I have had a sore throat, swollen glands in my neck that dont hurt too much, low grade fever (99.7), and a light headache for 2 1/2 days. Supposively I've already had mono as a child and strep throat cultures came back negative. Is this Tonsilitis?

Usually when a person has tonsilitis, their throats and neck is sore and the glands are swollen and it hurts to eat or swallow. Fever whether low grade or not can be present. It may be that or it may be something else.

Do yourself a big favor and make yourself a doctor's appointment. Don't try to guess what is wrong with you. If it is tonsilitis, and you keep getting this, your doctor may recommend you to see someone who can remove them for you.

I had my tonsils and adnoids removed back in 1970. Procedures of today are much more advanced then they were back then.

Go see your family doctor and good luck! I hope you feel better soon!

I hope I was some what helpful!

It's possible. If you have any white puss type material coming from the back of your throat it's definately tonsilitis! I suffered with it for years before a Dr took them out.

regardless of what it may or may not be, you need to be on antibiotics.

It could be. Could be a virus, could be sinus infection, could be allergies.

Take aspirin or tylenol. Drink a lot of fluids and rest. I would also take vitamin C. If no improvement in 3 days, see your doctor.
