never heard that about catfish before and i have eaten alot of it i do soak it in milk for awhile before cooking it takes out the mud and of any fishy taste it may of had. i have heard you need to soak frog legs in salt water for a bit before you cook them or they will jump around in pan has something to do with the nerve in the frog leg so i've heard

It's not necessary, but it does improve the flavor. You can also soak catfish in buttermilk for an hour or so. I don't know the chemical reason, but it makes good, better, so to speak.

People soak catfish in salt water to remove the "fishy" taste. To me, they taste like the water smells that they come out of. I hate fish, but salt water helps the taste. Just like deer meat.

You should do it before to get all the salt out. I do not know of anyone who just eats it. I like to run the water over the fish and watch the salt bubble.

It's best to thoroughly wash the flesh before you cook it. It will help remove all the salt and will keep it **** and span.
As for the woman who says bottom feeders are bad for you? No, they're not. When cooked properly, they can be quite healthy (Excellent source of protein) and tastey, however, I'm not fond of any fish. ;)
