I believe that man invented the concept of God because it makes it easier to explain the inexplicable and to help people believe that if they live a good life, they have an opportunity to live another life after death.

There are many reasons for man creating god. It gives a simple explanation ("god did it") to those that can't figure things out (weak minded). It gave a moral compass, that is why "Jesus" was referred to as a Shepperd. It gives power to men. Some religions say they know gods will, and if you don't obey it you will go to hell, and if you do, you go to heaven. They say not to question religion, etc. There are many reasons to make religion. But they are all made by man.

I think God Created the big Bang and that's what made the world it is today, and yes if you live a good life i be leave that you will come back as something else.

I think Man comes before God , but we have made this name as someone started this world , this is who we call God today.

I'm sorry to tell you this but listen up what I'm about to say is the truth, Man Kind made religion and the Bible is just a story that some random family made many years ago on how they wanted to see others live there life, Someone found this book and the story got twisted and that's the truth. Some people have decided to Follow this Book as we see today in Christians, God didn't write this book and no did Jesus , Life is self Choice !

Why even ask a question like this? You have made up in your own mind that there is no God. Then you are a fool. Not my words that's the bible's own words. Its The fool has said in his heart there is no God. So basically you are a fool because you deny the existence of God.
Just because you believe in something doesn't make it true. Loom at what you said... 'I believe that man invented the concept of God...' Well who are you to think that man invented God. For all I know I could have invented you so that I could answer dumb questions. You could be a figment of my imagination. How do I know I haven't imagained you? Well its obvious isn't it? How do we know that God is real? Its obvious. He is everywhere we are. Loolk at the creation of this beautiful planet. You think that this is all by chance? Look at the stars, the moon and the sun is that coincidence? Look at you you are unique. there is noone else like you ion the planet of over 6 billion people. There never has been anyone like you, and there never wil be.
If you think that this is coincidence then you are more than a fool you are a complete idiot. Not the bibles words they are mine!!!

Man created the ideology of god, originally religions purpose was to subdue the masses to assist law and order or rather civilisation full stop to exist although many people in the past and still are today used religion to control people.

That's not to say that religion is a bad thing, i'm personally not religious but i was educated in a Catholic primary school and i still carry many of the "manors" taught to me during my time there, treat others like you'd expect to be treated yourself etc which i believe make me a better person however that doesn't mean that i have to believe that there is actually or ever was a god ~ take the bible as being a rough guide to life rather than being factual information.

here's how i see it, and i've pondered before actually answering your question so i will try to choose my words carefully. imagine that there is Truth and all religions like people say are just ways to suit peoples lives, so we might as well just be tolerable of everything and everyone. now let's say that Truth is great and real and hidden from all of us, even though it's under our noses. we are just merely content with living lives that are just normal, walking past the impossible and turbulent. as Christians, well at least me so far, i'd much rather live under a false god, like God, than the sort of lives other people lead. maybe Man did make up God just to explain such inexplicabilities. maybe Man did just want some sort of higher entity to believe in. but then maybe some men (and women) knew the truth and while in Great Silence (which is the time pd we are in now) stood strong and decided to wait for what God would do.
as far as i am concerned with anything, Man could not make up such a being and be happy with it. Man would not let God let bad things happen. Man would not let God rule over them. Man would not let God make himself bigger than anything in the whole universe. Man wants to be in the driver's seat so if Man did make God, God would not be the way real Christians should see him.
God does not have a definition likes most mortals do. God is God and only he can explain himself. if Man made God then he should have the imperfections we do because Man can't believe in something so strong. Man cannot comprehend something so Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient. Man is mortal, God is not. Man is imperfect and God is not. Man only wants "good" but what do we know what is good? We were born into evil, no one teaches anyone to do bad things. You probably weren't taught to hit your siblings when you were mad at them.
If i live this life that God has provided for me and it ended up not being real; and i ended up with no life after death, i at least took that chance to believe in something, someone rather that could've believed in me.
so we get one thing straight, i am a Christian, i do believe that God is the Mighty Creator, i have accepted the fact that he died on the cross and rose again after three days ... and here i give a testimony to you ... i don't even know if what i said was right ... i just hope that God gave me the right words to give to you.

Man created god to explain the things in the world around them that they could not explain. People need explanations and when they could not find the answers then they figured it must have been a supernatural intervention. This grew into a belief of a god. This then lead to stories being told and passed on as entertainment and educational purposes to early man. When writing was starting to be used to communicate and keep records some of the first written records were the stories of the early gods. when tribes came together and learned to communicate together the stories were shared, these eventually compiled into the mass writings, including the dead sea scrolls, the holy bible, torah, koran, and greek mythology among others.

What was there first, the chicken or the egg?
Although I can totally see where you are coming from, I think it doesn't matter what was there first when one can open up for the things belief can give us.
I had never made up my mind about that one, until recently, when a whole chain of clearly non-coincidental things happened to me. Within three days I evolved from deep disappointment and loss of faith in life/love to a state of content, centred notion that everything is going to be OK. Last night I thanked God for the light and love I received during those last days through friends and family.
It's not provable, you can't put your finger on it, you won't find "signs", but you have to look inside yourself and you will find it, if you are open to it. Whatever we call this, God or another energy or power, it is there and helps us though the struggles of life.
And always know that everybody will doubt God, even those who call themselves believers. It's a journey, not a goal.

Totally agree with you... although I think God was also created as as means of controlling people. I'm so glad to finally see someone ask a question about God from the other side of the debate. You'll probably get a lot of defensive answers from religious fanatics, but it's good to know that some people are still willing to think about these sorts of things.

God created man.

If man had created God, why would God have so many demands? Wouldn't we rather a God that lets us do whatever we want?

If man had created God, then God would be powerless, yet the examples of mighty men and women of God whom God has given power.

If man had created God, why didn't he create a God he can over come? Why a God that is so powerful?

In short, I think if man had made God, it wouldn't be anything like the God that most people believe in. It would be more like the spirits of the Wiccan religion.

The problem with this question (and it's a good one) is that what Catholics, Protestants, Athiests, and Agnostics have in common is a "rational mind". Meaning, all will use "logic" in a conversation or debate about truth. The one who wins the debate will be the one that can out-debate the other.

The problem with your question is that (assuming the answerers are from the United States) is that we all will use a rational mind to answer your question. The problem with a rational mind is that rational minds don't lead to truth. A rational mind can only discern falsehoods, but not lead to any great truth or purpose or fullfillment.

It may be interesting to note that eastern Christianity (as opposed to western Christianity, like Catholics and Protestants) would not use rational thought to answer your question. Eastern Christianity (like eastern Buddhism or Hinduism) would answer that question with their heart.

A Buddhist monk, who had reached enlightenment, would not debate with you, he would just smile. Believe it or not, there are a group (quite large group) of Christians who would respond the same way. They are eastern Orthodox, and they would just smile, and say with a knowing certainty, God absolutely created us and He loves us completely.

By the way a "western rational mind" cannot build a truth inside that you are willing to die for. However, the eastern mind, answers developed with the heart, absolutely prepare a human to be able to be a martyr. That's how the martyrs were able to die for Christ.

What are the odds of every intricate part of our enviroment being combined in the proper form to not only sustain, but create the lives of millons of species (human, animal etc) ?. Trust me, nothing that intricate just "happens". Besides, if these things just happend they wouldn't have a science behind them. Atoms, quantum particles...hardly things which just "happen" for no good reason. So i believe god exists even if only in the form being the energy and reliabilty behind things like numbers and science. God exists if only as the non-physical traits and emotions which we title "love", "compassion" and so forth. A big man in the sky with a white beard ? prolly not. But god never said that he looked that way, we did. Us...humans...the same people that have disease that kill the masses and yet don't know how to cure them. We're not smart as we think, we can't create a world that we don't even know how to control (inculding diseases which have no cure yet). Do you know why diseases have no cure yet ? because the scientist are "trying" to find one, but we're not smart enough to know the answer to everything yet. Some intelligence is out there which created things our intelligence can't fully comprehend. You can call it god, science, or Aunt Ida but its a fact.
