Hotmail is horrible, I switched to Yahoo like 5 years ago and haven't regretted it.

I do have a gmail account, which I think is a lot better than Yahoo.

In my experience Yahoo is by far better. I received spam with Hotmail without even using my Hotmail address to sign up for anything. I opened a Hotmail account and was spammed in a matter of minutes. Yahoo...I don't have that problem so much. I have one account I use for signing up for things (shopping, subscriptions) and another for business and friends. The business/friends address has minimal spam that goes to my bulk folder. The one I use to sign up for things get quite a bit of spam which again goes to the bulk folder instead of my inbox unlike Hotmail.

I have been with yahoo since I started using my my Lap-top I was given for my birthday in August of last year. My daughters use Hot mail because they are also using MSN. They talk to alot of people when they are in MSN and are alerted to when people leave a e-mail on the Hot mail then they reply faster after they read the e-mail....they also say that the person can go right onto MSN when they pick up the e-mail, as well when they are chatting pop-ups happen when their friends come onto MSN.and then they can tell them something if it comes to mind instead of having to go and write a e-mail they can tell them instantly and still continue to chat over home work etc......but I have to go into my e-mail separate, and there are no pop-ups to tell they just logged onto yahoo.ca.So when I e-mail them I may get a quick reply and when I see that they left it may be a couple days after.
That means if you use you computer on MSN you maybe able to connect faster with them.

Yahoo!

on messaging, its definately hotmail. you get MSN and with MSN you can change your name, picture, and personal message as much as you want!! hotmail's email isn't all that great, but it still works! so if your going to use messaging, definately choose hotmail. on yahoo messaging, its like you can't change your name and you can't change your personal message and its not as cool looking, but the email is better.

so it really depends on what you like.

i have both, lol.

Gmail, simply because it offers free POP access. That way you can use whatever mail program you want, such as Outlook or Thunderbird.

To establish a free account, you either have to have a cell phone (follow the instructions on screen), or you have to get a current account holder to email you an invitation.
