I have nothing against them. I have met some very cool British people, and I have met a few jerks amongst them as well. It is no different from people everywhere else.

I think that there will always be the gentle teasing that occurs in healthy banter between both countries. it is what keeps us friends and allies, but I have met several British people in my life and I have yet to be disappointed by anything I have seen.

Let's face it Americans are a bit jealous of the English accent-I'm not saying that we all WANT that 24/7 but Americans love the Australian and South African accents as well...and I imagine that some Americans find Brits exhausting because they are so proper...but that personally is what endears me to them. There may be some meals that might require an adquired taste bud..but then who as americans are we to talk? Golden Corral? Taco Hell?

Rotten Johnny and Austin Powers are NOT reflective of British oral hygiene, actually....one was a punk and the other is a movie..don't stereotype all Brits..they are brilliant!

I have enjoyed English music since I was 6 years old..the ONE song that I remembered more than any other was Sweet Dreams by The Eurythmics. my parents actually got MTV when it first came out..and I saw the very first video Video killed the Radio Star...it was amazing...the concept..too bad it has been lost since then,,oh we have videos..they all suck in comparison with those days...

Music obviously has a LARGE part in English pop culture since the Beatles, The Who, etc...but it is not EVERYTHING Engerland has to offer...I can't wait to visit..as strange as this seems..I LOVE TO WATCH PARLIAMENT..it is hysterical...it is actually funny and serious at the same time...I think that American politics within the house and senate can be a bit drab...

On a very, very surface-y level from people who don't know anyone British or who have never been there, I hear...they have cute accents, they're snobby or stuck up (this is based on the accent some how), they have a dry sense of humor, Americans think Benny Hill is the only show on British television, Americans think that British food is awful. Those are the immediate thoughts and generalizations I often hear. (I married a Brit and these are just generalizations I have noticed.)

British, to me, is like any other, just a person. The british are quiet people towards the americans, and I have no problems towards any whole nation. The british are just another person in this world that come from another place that I'd love to learn about.
how are american's percieved by the british? I'd think that other countries would see american's as people who think they're better than everyone else, but what do other countries really think of america and americans.

Most Americans I know have been inordinately fond of the British ever since the Beatles hit our shores. I've always been very fond of English literature, arts, music, etc. The most valuable doll in my collection is a British limited edition portrait of Princess Elizabeth from the Tower Treasures series that was sold to tourists in the Tower of London. I'm positively nuts about Stonehenge, Harry Potter and Lynne Truss (author of "Eats, Shoots & Leaves"), and I love a British accent. I intend to visit Great Britain before I die.

And I love bangers. I could go on, but there's limits. Let's just say I love you people.

I think of british people the same thing I think of every other person in the world. Some are fabulous people, some are rude, some care only about themselves, some are the kindest people ever, etc. All the British people that i have had the honor of knowing have been wonderful people, people I am so happy to have at one point in time called friends. i also don't look at a person and say "hey they are brithish, I must love them" or "hey they are british, I've got to hate them" I look at each person individually and decide from there whether or not i like them. It doesn't matter where you are from, it matters what kind of person you are that I care about.

I have had a rare opprotunity to work with the Royal British Marines when I was in Iraq. My impression was that they are professionals. Since they 'represent' England and the British, I honestly believe that they are a polite people. The British have earned my respect.

I love the British. I've actually been to London a couple of times, and everyone I encountered was polite and helpful. I even like some of their food but not the steak and kidney pie. They have good beer and great pubs. I also love the sense of humor. Some of the funniest shows I've ever seen were from Britain.

Coming from a woman, a hot American guy would lose to an average-looking British guy. It's all about the accent! :)

I love the British people and their culture. I married a Brit and he moved here to America. He loves it here and people just love his accent. He got a job where he gets to travel and has seen more of America than I have. He is very happy here but we do try to get to England as often as possible to see his family and because I adore England.
