I hate it when it happens after heating something like bologna or tomato soup in the microwave. I've tried filling the recipient with clorox and water but it doesn't work all the times...

I don't think you will be able to, now. If the recipient was plastic it melts (the color) into the plastic. Try the following, it might help:
(1) immediately after emptying the container, soak in boiling water with baking soda. Afteryou have your meal
(2) if it still needs cleaning, make a paste of baking soda and water scrub on the stain and let sit, then
(3) pour some vinegar in the container (it will bubble)and let it sit several ohours or overnight.

if that doesn't do it.....sorry

Sealife8 is right -- I can't find ANYTHING that will remove it.

So what I do is "sacrifice" one or two mivcrowavable bowls for chili and spaghetti and tomato products so that they don't stain ALL the plastic bowls.

So I have my nice clear bowls and my tomato bowls. It's the best I can do.

Go buy a new container, or use regular microwaveable dishes covering them with a paper towel when cooking - keeps it from splattering.
