YES, it is definitely socially unacceptable to consider yourself "racist" in today's modern society. Why would you want to be racist? Would you want to be treated differently by a group of people that you are trying so desperately to be accepted? If you don't care if you have friends or not, and you truly want to live a life "alone" because you want to be a racist, then go ahead. Just remember once you're labeled a racist and you want to change that reputation or label, it will be extremely difficult, if not impossible b/c the world will know that you are a racist, regardless. Remember too that God loves all the children of the world--red, yellow, black, and white. So, why be racist? What are you going to prove by being racist?

Just because you may have some notions about certain groups does not mean you are a racist. The fact is there ARE stereotypical behaviors in different races, cultures, ethnicities and so on. You just have to realize that each person is an individual and think of them as so.

I hate rap, R&B, "urban " music, doesnt make me a redneck ... not a fan of country. Doesnt mean I hate black people.

I am against Illegal immigration being allowed to go so unchecked, doesnt make me hate Mexicans, the city I live in is 60% hispanic and that would make me really dumb if I stayed.

The problem is that people cannot express any opinion anymore without being accused of being a racist.

I recall one time when Spike Lee made a point that he would never marry or date ( I forget) a white woman, I did not as a white man assume he was a racist, and actually thought it was cool that he expressed the truth.

When we stop expecting everybody to be saintly, maybe we will stop being so judgemental and hateful of one another.

Yeah, it's socially unacceptable, but only when it's portrayed in a negative fashion. No one ever sheds light on positive racism.

Oh, you didn't know about positive racisim? Well, what exactly is it called when someone exclusively volunteers or contributes in some form to a group of people who are exclusively one particular race? I call that positive racism. Because you could turn to that good person and call them a racist because they aren't doing the same job for other races. Of course we know very well that we'd never attack someone doing good.

So go ahead and be a racist. Good or bad. Everyone is to some extent.

Depends on what part of the country you live. In the South East I'd say is still the most racist part of the country. For the rest of the country alot of people are progressive and less racist, but we still have alot of religious fundamentalist that are racist and "WHITE."
Weather or not it's ok is not the issue, just a fact of life in this country, United States..there's your Irony!!

yes it is unacceptable to be a racist . do not do to others what u don't want to be done to u . it is unacceptable to have people who still think to be superior and do not see others as the same . it is unacceptable that today we still have to deal whit racist and little is done about it , all whit the pretext of free speech . free speech does not give the right to anyone to take the right to live peacefully from anyone at any moment at any time . if u have this problem i recommend u to go see a psychiatric , it is not acceptable feeling superior whit all been through because of racist people .

It is socially unacceptable to be lots of things in modern society. You have the freedom to not like anyone you wish. You do not have the freedom to harm another because you don't like them. I have met people of many races and many countries, but I haven't been able to generalize something negative about all of them based on my personal experience. In any event certainly not enough to criticize any one particular race in such a way.

Whether it is unacceptable or not depends on your environment. If everyone around you is racist and the government does nothing about, then your society lets you believe it is acceptable. But in my opinion, racism is not acceptable no matter what.

I think a yes or no answer is to simplistic. To begin with, it matter what society you live in gang society would see it differently than wall street for example. In some communities it is a necessary part of life while in others it is considered abhorrent, as I tend to think it should be.

Why would you want to? The is a clear sign of ignorance. To put any race into a catagory only demeonstrates a lack of understanding people and says the you believe every person of a race is the same.

Quite shallow thinking in my book.
