I feel I am a Christian, however I do not believe this. I refuse to believe God would deny an entrance into heaven from a newborn baby that didn't make it. Or a retarded kid that didn't have the capacity to know what/who Jesus/God is. Or the billion people on this Earth that aren't Christians. Most Christians don't even think about these things. Most feel that their religion is the right one - ONLY because someone wrote a book about it and people have told them that thier whole lives.

Yes, this is what the Bible teaches.

However, let's entertain the "if you're a good person, you go to heaven thing."

How good do you have to be?
What if you change really late in life and your tally of bad is larger than your tally of good works?
How do you correct things that you realize too late that are wrong?
How can you be certain you will go to heaven?

However, accepting Jesus is not a free pass to sign. Although Christinaity isn't a work's based religion, faith cannot be shown without good works, so there has to be a moral change in character upon accepting Christ.

Most do. There are otehrs who hold different interpretations of the 'no other name given under heaven whereby you must be saved' bit.

Some think of that teaching, and many other parts of the NT as teachings designed for that audience- mostly adult Jews. If the target audience had been some other group, the focus might have been more on a teaching that is often ignored- making the right choices in life.

In this viewpoint, God will judge you based on whether you choose to satisfy your carnal nature, or your spiritual nature OR choosing for selfish reasons or according to a higher calling.

The shorthand version is just choosing FOR or AGAINST God, and having that choice be honored.

Yes, we believe that the only way to Heaven is to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, but there's more to it than saying..."okay, I accept You." You have to realize and repent of your sins, be baptized in the holy trinity and dedicate your life to walking with Christ. It's worth it!!! =0)

I just don't think the Walmart brand of hot dogs is good thing to put on your hook. Sometimes the fish around here are picky as to what they'll bite. When I use hotdogs on my fishing trips, I always go with Ballpark franks. It makes 'sm feel more special.

You have to hear the Word of God,believe what the Bible says, confess your sins,be baptized for remission of sins, and remain faithful. You aren't saved until you are baptized.Christians believe that you have to be baptized to be saved, not just to ask Jesus to be your personal savior.I would suggest that you go to a Church of Christ and they will explain it to you.Hope what I said helps you.

John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.""
