Does the influence of Christ's message change if he wasn't the son of God, or if he hadn't performed miracles?

What I am getting at is that there have been people in recent history ie Martin Luther King, Gandhi etc. that have in fact affected history by choosing to walk a Christ like path. Wouldn't Christ have been just as influencial otherwise? I really am curious here, this isn't a booby trap or anything.

That means Christians would have to follow the rules.

The primary attraction for Trinitarian cults is they get to play the "Jesus died for my sins" card when they want to "sin."

IF Jesus did not die for their sins, that means they have to either not sin, or repent in a manner prescribed by their cult leaders, or by the bible, whichever they prefer.

Response:

IF (<<<<--- key word) people actually followed Jesus, the world would be a great place to live. I'm an atheist and find inspiration in his teachings. But, his teachings were not unique, so we cannot attribute them solely to Jesus.

The problem is that Christians don't even make the attempt because they follow Pauline/Trinitarian doctrine that exempts them from all the rules. NO "real Christian" would ever say "God said" before he began judging & condemning other people, including queers.

Yes. Only a perfect sacrifice would be able to erase my sins. If Jesus wasn't the son of God, He wouldn't have been capable of being the perfect sacrifice. I believe He performed miracles to prove Himself as the Son. Before the cross, people were virtually incapable of having faith, with the exception of the few OT saints and prophets.

It's tough to say. You know it's entirely possible that some people are put off by that, and would otherwise be more open to Christianity, especially to Christ's messages. For instance, a lot of people are not able to accept the virgin birth. They can't get past that.

First he wasn't son of God, you people are committing a very serious sin by this claim that has no proof and that make God and Jesus angry with you. Paul is the one who invented this to corrupt Christianity and he succeeded. For the influence of Jesus in comparison to Mohammad PBUT see what Hart said at this link:

I believe that Jesus would not have the effect that he has if he was not God's son. Also the miracles helped show who he was.

That really isn't a question because He IS God's son.

I don't particuarly believe the inpact of the message would change but it would definately change the forgiveness of sin.
