We've seen this question a couple times before. However, he would have gotten amnesty in 1986, so he'd be legal now.
Besides, since his home world was destroyed, he probably qualifies for asylum.

Nah .. he's not illegal ... he got asylum .. he's technically a refugee, because the world he came from is destroyed, so where would he be deported to?
