I have been asked to say grace at my brother's wedding. We are Catholic but not everyone at the wedding will be. I would like to say something heartfelt but not mushy.

Just pray to God...it doesn't matter what denomination a person is, if you are Christians then you serve the exact same God. I suggest simply praying to God and thanking Him for the food, and asking Him to bless your brother and his wife in their marriage.

I agree with Mister_fin. Remember this is your brother so speak from your heart. You can praise God for the union of the couple, the beauty of the day, the coming together of friends and family and the rejoicing of a wonderful event.

Just do it, something like :"Bless this food to our bodies, thank you for our many blessings, thank you especially for this gathering of friends and family, may your happiness be with us all this day and every day to come," and since you have avoided saying "Jesus" or "Father" up to this point, I don't believe anyone would mind if you ended this simple grace with the words "In Jesus' Name..." See how easy it can be? Hope this helps, sincerely, UCSteve.

I am a Catholic. Use the standard grace it is not Catholic in the broader sense.

We are thankful for these and all the good things of life. We recognize that they are part of our common heritage and come to us through the efforts of our brothers and sisters the world over. What we desire for ourselves, we wish for all. To this end, may we take our share in the world's work and the world's struggles. Amen.

Simply thank God for the blessing of the wedding, don't go into specifics.

Wow! I wish neuroaster had been at my wedding - that is a brilliant piece of writing.

Do you just want to mumble words?
Do you really want God to bless that wedding?

You have to end the prayer in Christ's name, or it is NOT heard to begin with.
Eph. Ch.5 vs 20. "Always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to God, even the Father."

How can you have a nondenominational prayer, and have God hear it?

Just say "We are thankful to be surrounded by great friends and family to enjoy this wonderful occasion. Thank you."

CONSECRATION
This place is holy; I hold it sacred.
I dedicate it to radiance and to lovingkindness.

This time is holy; I hold it sacred.
I dedicate it to radiance and to lovingkindness.

This meal is holy; I hold it sacred.
I dedicate it to radiance and to lovingkindness.

Weaving space and time,
weaving radiance,
weaving lovingkindness,
I pronounce this consecration.
May it be blessed.
Amen.

If you have to insert the name of Jesus, or a mention of the Christian god, that should be easy enough to do.
