I have an aunt who used 2 self injure and I think still does, so could it be hereditary??

I don't believe it is hereditary. But I think that behavior is learned. I am a self injurer, and my 15 year old tried it out a few times.

I think that it might be possible that it is hereditary, certainly possible to be learned behavior from other relatives. I have seen other like behaviors or disorders, if you will, that seem to be hereditary.

Yes, I do believe that it is hereditary, along with suicide. If your comfortable talking to another family member about it you should ask them.
