I would have to say Poulsbo, Bambridge Island, or Bremerton Washington, somewhere in that area, because all of those (especially Poulsbo) have a nice small, coastal town feel, you have Seattle right next to you (except your separated by water so there's no big city crime or crowded) and you have plenty to do there's Mt. Rainer, Pt. Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, the Space Needle, whale watching, the coast, boating, the ferry boats, the list goes on and on, but one important thing would be to live across from Seattle, not in it (hope all of this helps!)

You should ask for the top 10. There are so many.
The Kitsap peninsula is wonderful but so are the foothills of the North Cascades. A little north of Seattle is "ok" if you need to work for a living. Stay out of Bellevue, Kirkland and Redmond...YUCK, too much traffic. Lake Sammamish is lovely. North Bend, Sultan, any of the communities leading up into the two mountain passes commonly traveled...wow

Some say that Seattle is because it has so many activies there. Me I like Tumwater-Olympia area. It is on the sound and is only an hour away from the ocean and Mt. Rainier.
