I love my husband but he is so messy. He can clean up after himself at work, we both work in the same restaurant, but he can't clean up after himself at home. He cooks at work and at home. After he cooks at home he leaves it a huge mess.

No we don't have a deal, he cooks I clean. If you make the mess you should clean it. He does do his share of house chores, takes the dogs out, helps with laundry, helps with cleaning the rest of the house but not the kitchen. Drives me crazy.

Yes, most men in general are dirty and don't clean up..You need to look at his background.the way he grew up..My husband use to leave the kitchen cabinets open after he would get something out and make a mess in the kitchen and not clean up.well when we went to stay for a short while with the in laws I learned real fast where he got the bad habits..one day I had gone out for a few hrs. to do some errands and came back to the in laws house to find the kitchen in a mess. cabinets all open, food left laying out and everything still dirty and on the dining room table. and stove on low with food still cooking on it..what was really bad is they had left me a note saying they decided to go visit family at the last minute and would be back in a few days..well the family they went to visit was in Texas and we were all in Virginia..had I not came home soon the house could have burned down..that is when I saw I had to start on husband training..and it has taken 17 longgg yrs. and many arguments. but he has learned although every once in a while he says he forgets and does it again and the training has to start over...Good Luck on the patients and training..

He has had people clean up after him a lot. So he has a habit or never learned. I blame his mother.

My dad cooked when he was the first home from work and my mom cooked when she was the first home. But my dad learned cooking in the Navy and you could not be messy in the Navy - there was no room for it, and anyway the Navy are a bunch of obsessive-compulsives. When my dad cooked, at the end of it all there was nothing to wash but the dishes we ate off of. When my mom cooked, there were pots and pans and forks and spoons and knives and ladles and whatnot, besides what we ate from.

So it's not just that he's a man and husband, it's early training and habits.

Science has discovered a "messy gene" that is found in the vast majority of men. It sometimes lies dormant for years, but the sound of wedding bells brings it out in full force. In some cases, the sound of the words"company's coming" can hold the effects of the gene in a state of remission for a few hours, but the genetic force is too powerful to be held back for long. The best treatment for you is to learn to live with a little more mess than you'd like, and offer special dinners or deserts as rewards for the small amount of cleaning that the "messy gene" male may be able to handle.

Yeah all men are messy, ask any woman, she'll tell ya the same. But the funny thing is, is that they are messy because their moms normally cleaned up after them growing up, so they don't know how to clean up after themselves. So if all woman come together and teach their sons how to clean we could give our daughters a better future. What ya think about that idea?

U feel that because u have cleaners in the restaurant ,
If u clear and clean at home by u r self is much better than ready made food or paying for a cleaner.

Oh, how I wish that were true. I wake up every morning to a kitchen filled with the debris of an entire night scrounging around searching for food and what the dog did with whatever food wasn't put away.

He could figure if he cooks you can clean up,but he should make an effort not to make such a huge mess. When you cook he should clean up. You need to tell him how you feel about this!

he leaves it a mess because he knows you will pick up after him, let him know you don't appreciate it and you would like for him to consider the mess before he cooks. unless, of course, thats the deal you have, he cooks you clean up, then oh well its the deal you made.

Any husband that can get away with it will. I solved that problem by just letting all his mess stack up, eventually he cleaned up himself otherwise he would be going to work naked and having to eat his breakfast at mcdonalds or with no clean dishes at home. Any man will try to get away with all that he can. BEEN THERE, DONE THAT, SOLVED IT.
