There is a difference in knowing something because someone told you or because you read it in a book, and knowing something because you lived through it and know it to be true.
We are introduced to God's Word, both by the Bible and testimony from believers. We become believers ourselves by living that truth.
Kind of like when you walk into the kitchen, and your mom says "the stove is hot," and you can see the burner is red. Your mind knows the stove is hot. But you still poke your finger out there anyway, touch the stove, and get burned. Now you REALLY know the stove is hot!

I am persuaded and having been persuaded am convinced and having been convinced was convicted that there is only one Truth and that is to be found in Jesus Christ - which does not answer any of your questions and of which I will not apologize as I have faith grounded and secure that the foundation upon which I stand is eternal and I refuse to be sifting sand that blows where ever the wind dictates.

very good question
believing without proof is called as blind belief. and islam is totally against blind beleif
And do not follow (blindly) any information of which you have no (direct) knowledge. (Using your faculties of perception and conception, you must verify it for yourself. (In the Court of your Lord,) you will be held accountable for your hearing, sight, and the faculty of reasoning."[Quran 17:36]
QUran 25:33 And no question do they bring to thee but We reveal to thee the truth and the best explanation (thereof).
We are not suppose to believe on wrong or false. Quran clearly says that truth is clearly evident against false hood
There is no compulsion in the religion; Truth stands out clear from error;
Al-Quran (2:256)
========================
people reject the truths and proofs of islam, because they are not willing to leave their parents way.
When they are told to follow the (Revelation) that has sent down, they say:
nay, we shall follow the ways that we found our fathers (following). What if
it is Satan beckoning them to the Penalty of the (Blazing) Fire?

1. I have God on my side and that is what counts. Even those that don't think so will see one day.
