Did you know that someone, presumably the Catholic church founders, altered the writings of Paul to make them fit the Trinity (Jesus is God) doctrine?

"An Historical Account of Two Notable Corruptions of Scripture is a dissertation by the English Mathematician and Scholar Isaac Newton. First published in 1754, twenty-seven years after Newton's death, it reviewed all the textual evidence available from ancient sources on two disputed Bible passages, at 1 John 5:7-8 and 1 Timothy 3:16."

Given the fact this forgery has been known for over 200 years, why do so many still follow Trinitarian doctrine/

Sir Isaac Newton studied religion more than he did science. He was a lifelong Christian and only became a Unitarian after discovering these forgeries.

Disclaimer:

I am an atheist.

But, that has nothing to do with my desire to educate people. And, if I'm going to play with my Christian friends, I want them educated enough to play with.

I'm not arguing the point one way or another concerning the bible. There are tens of thousands of unique Christian cults that are already doing that.

My point is that one of the most brilliant men in history, and a bible scholar, became a Unitarian as a direct result of what he discovered in his bible research.

Which makes me wonder why so many claim the bible has not been altered when it so clearly has.

I only have three modes of operation:

Sleep (most of the time); work (rarely); and, play (when I'm not sleeping).

I'm not getting paid for this, and I'm not sleeping, so we must be playing.

The subject is Isaac Newton, not the bible. Isaac Newton knew far more about the bible that I do. And he became a Unitarian as a result of his lifelong bible studies.

2006-07-04 09:00:51 · update #5

That citation is to what Isaac Newton said, not me. I'm not claiming anything. I'm asking if people are aware that Sir Isaac Newton became a Unitarian, and why he did so.

It doesn't matter to me what people believe.

Because children are taught from a young age to know that the Bible is absolute fact. . .they do not listen to anyone who tells them otherwise.

well,, also In the Revised Standard Version of the Bible (R.S.V.) revised by 32 Christian scholars of the highest eminence backed by 50 different co-operating denominations, this verse which is the keystone of the Christian faith of trinity has been removed as an interpolation . Its no longer there in the RS Version of the bible, because the RS Version of the bible takes back more closer to the source, approx. 200 years after the alleged crucifixion of Jesus Christ pbuh. The more closer to the source, the more authentic it is.

It has NOT been expunged from the Revised Standard Version of the Bible by the Muslims or by non-Christian scholars, but by 32 Christian scholars of the highest eminence backed by 50 different cooperating denominations as a fabricated insertion of the church, because this verse does not exist in the original manuscript.

GOOD NEWS BIBLE
1st Epistle of John, chapter 5
verse no 7 - There are three witnesses:
verse no. 8- the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and all three give the same testimony

REVISED STANDARD VERSION
1st Epistle of John, chapter 5
[7] And the Spirit is the witness, because the Spirit is the truth.
[8] There are three witnesses, the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree.

This verse (1 John 5:7 of KJV) is now universally recognized as being a later "insertion" of the Church. All recent versions of the Bible, such as the Revised Standard Version the New Revised Standard Version, the New American Standard Bible, the New English Bible, the Phillips Modern English Bible ...etc. have all unceremoniously expunged this verse from their pages. Why?
Don't you think it is possible that other passages in the Bible may likewise be later additions?

THAT AND MANY OTHER spurious ALTERATIONS and CORRUPTIONS were done during the compilation of the Bible by the seventy scribes [Septuagint] of the early RCChurch and through the Dark Ages.

Apparently, the Trinitarian concept emanates from Hinduism that believes in the three major deities: Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu... and the eighth avatar of Vishnu, who reincarnated as Krishna, has been likened to Jesus Christ by some theological scholars, for he [Krishna] too was visited by three kings and given the gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh at his nativity...

While I follow the sevenfold teaching of Yeshua Messiah [JC] --Praise be upon Him!-- as handed down by the Ancinet Great Ones who saw the face of God, I DO NOT accept or adhere to the 'Trinitarian' concept that has been indoctrinated to all of Christendom over the millennia.

Had Sir Isaac Newton been around today, with all the knowledge abounding and readily available through the Internet now, he would have extrapolated his views and findings to A LOT MORE DISCREPANCIES and CORRUPTIONS found within the Scriptures than merely the Trinitarian doctrine he wrote about...

That's my take on that tune.

Peace be with you!

Ah...as 2 Corinthians 4:4 explains..."among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through"

Satan has blinded people's minds. Doesn't mean we all fall to his blindfold...but some do. I think this information is very good. The whole Trinity thing is used by other religions...like...Hinduism...they have trinity gods. As well as several other pagan religions. So, where and why did the Trinity begin? If I recall well enough...it started with Constantine...he was trying to attract the non-christians...so he adapted such beliefs into catholicism. But, people still believe in it, even though it has no biblical support.

It's similar to homosexuality being supported by the bible. "Love thy neighbor"...Yeah, right! Homosexuality is clearly condemned in the Bible...even Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed due to the unnatural act occuring there...not only violence...but homosexuality. Once more...not saying that they're bad people...just saying that it IS a sin. So...same way that some people may believe that...same way some still continue the tradition of Trinity.

And...what do you mean play with? Dont' know what kinda game YOU playin', man...educating people is good...as long as you don't disrespect or insult anyone in the process.'

Cults? I thought they were supposed to be called religions?

So your basically suggesting that because the Catholic church tried to clarify a translation that needed no clarification, we should stop believing that Christ was God. You used one scripture. What about John 1:1-14? I think you are setting up a straw man just to knock it down. The fact that it had to be changed back gives the bible more credibility. The change was not allowed to stand, even with the considerable influence of the Catholic Church.

There has been many scholars in the past not agree on doctrine. The
truth is that even Martin Luther of the reformation did not believe that
the Book of James should not be included in the Bible because it implies you have to work for your salvation.
You have your right to believe in your religion as I have to believe in my FAITH.I know beyond a doubt that I am right because I had a personal meeting with God myself. You can not understand because you are spiritually dead(dead men can't understand anything spiritual).
1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

There is more documentation about Jesus Christ than any other man in history. There were 500+ men not counting the women that were eye witnesses to Jesus Christ Bodily Resurrection. There is a old saying "The proof is in the pudding" The number of changed lives is a
Testimony of Gods changing power. The drunkards that have met God
and received Jesus Christ as Lord drink no more, beat their children no more they are continually changing for the better.
In Closing I say this IF I was wrong and when I died I would not loose anything. The other hand when you die and you were wrong you will loose everything[What would it profit a man if he gained the world and when he died lost his soul or how much would a man pay to save his soul?
You have the right to believe the way you want to as for me I Will Just Trust God.
In Christ in Love,

first of all..I think its at least amusing the way you make these atheist asuptions based on " spirulous " knowledge of the "greek
inspired scriptures ". First of all, if you arent jewish of which I am then you fall for that fable that Jesus came speaking greek to jewish fisherman. That my friend is totally laughably wrong. Therefore, if you have made assuptions about anything pertaining to the greek you are automaticly wrong right out of the gate. You are riding a very lame and sickly horse that needs to be shot and or put out to retire. Greek makes the scriptures immediatly contradict. Jesus came speaking the same language the jewish prophets spoke. It is quite easy and available to get the NT in hebrew and or aramaic and then you will see the " errors " drift away.

That is why I use the NIV Bible as it clearly marks such "suspect" passages and in some cases moves them to footnotes, which explains a skip of a verse number.

People rarely understand why and claim its a conspiracy to contaminate the Bible, when in reality the NIV seeks to keep it as pure and as in tact as humanly possible when translating into the English language.

BUT that does not mean I will join the Unitarian Church because they really have no value of Bible and deny who Jesus is and his miracles.

I am not a trinity believer

I'm sure his great learning drove him mad. Hints of a Trinitarian Deity is found in other references and not only those you cited. I'm sure Sir Isaac's writings never were altered in any way. I guess that means Mr Newton was an inspired individual. Pish.

Newton was a genius but he wanted to find out more and wanted to use equations to dig deeper into religion even though he was born into a religious family.

If everyone studied the evidence objectively in depth, there wouldn't even be any Christians, let alone trinitarians.
