I realy like the National Anthem of my country - the words were written by Jean George Proper! It says "Glory to thee, Motherland, Oh Motherland of mine. Sweet is thy beauty, sweet is thy fragrance. Around thee (our flag) we gather, as one people, as one nation, in peace, justice and liberty. Beloved Country May God Bless thee, For ever and ever!"
Hope you take time to read those others will write.

I'm not very patriotic but the National Anthem makes me cry every time I hear it.
Oh, say can you see?
By the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed
At the twilight's last gleaming
Whose broad stripes and bright stars
through the perilous fight
What so proudly we hailed
......
And that's where I always get stuck!!! Oh well, it's still a beautiful song =P

I think America could come close to that if "America the Beautiful" or George Gershwin's "Summertime" were our national anthem. But we've got a war poem ("The Star-Spangled Banner") set to the impossible-to-sing melody of an English drinking song. It's become sentimental and "traditional" like a bad Christmas carol, like "Jingle Bells Rock," and I don't think we'll ever change it.

The old OLD OLD ORIGINAL National Anthem or Palestine.
It does not exist - because the country never really existed.
Old Palestine, as referred to in many books and bible maps was more correctly referred to as ISRAEL.

Musically, I hate mine (Star Spangled Banner). I do like Canada's national anthem, though.

The English national anthem is like a dirge; it is sooooo boring!
1. God save our gracious Queen,
Long live our noble Queen,
God save the Queen!
Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us;
God save the Queen!
2. O Lord our God arise,
Scatter her enemies
And make them fall;
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On Thee our hopes we fix,
God save us all!
3. Thy choicest gifts in store
On her be pleased to pour;
Long may she reign;
May she defend our laws,
And ever give us cause
To sing with heart and voice,
God save the Queen!
4. Not in this land alone,
But be God's mercies known,
From shore to shore!
Lord make the nations see,
That men should brothers be,
And form one family,
The wide world over.
5. From every latent foe,
From the assassins blow,
God save the Queen!
O'er her thine arm extend,
For Britain's sake defend,
Our mother, prince, and friend,
God save the Queen!
6. Lord grant that Marshal Wade
May by thy mighty aid
Victory bring.
May he sedition hush,
And like a torrent rush,
Rebellious Scots to crush.
God save the Queen!
The good people of Scotland quite rightly took offence to the last verse.
It's moaned to the same tune as the US 'My Country 'Tis of Thee'
I support Billy Connolly's suggestion we have the Archers theme music instead.

When I heard "...the bombs bursting in air...", I knew I was in the wrong country, so I moved to Canada.
