If your doctor told you that, he's an idiot. You need some fats in your diet. What the hell are you supposed to eat? Grass and celery? Just quit eating fast food. It's a waste of money. You need to be exercising everyday, whether it's walking or jogging. Try doing cardio four times a week. There is no easy diet. Try eating fish (NOT fried) and skinless, boneless chicken browned and boiled. Start using natural spices in your food (basil especially). They are so much better for you/tasting than salt anyways. Fresh veggies and fruits for breakfast, a light lunch (salad with LIGHT and very little dressing). There are tons of healthy selections out there. Just go to the grocery and look around. Look up new recipies on the internet. Broaden your tastes.

Fat-free diets are not healthy. We need a certain amount of fat. The best thing you can do is cut out items containing refined sugars, in their various forms. Sugars, unless used by the body for energy, are metabolised and stored as fat. Also, sugars cause an insulin imbalance in the body. It's not so much fatty foods that are making most folks fat, but the huge amounts of sugar in their diets.
Use less salt, to reduce water retention.
Fast foods are a big no-no. They are built for quantity, not quality, so the nutrition is not there...
Most doctors are quite ignorant, regarding nutrition--they are taught to use drug therapy, when the body encounters an imbalance. One must try to eat what the body is intended to have--mostly vegetables and some meat; very little, if any sugar--try to wean yourself away from sugars. No "white flour" products--remember: the simpler a food is, the healthier it is.
Herbs provide flavoring for bland foods.
I almost forgot--regular aerobic exercise is important.

I did a fat free diet because my doctor told me to as well. I took in no more than 8 grams of fat a day. The next time he did blood work, my triglycerides were sky high. the fat free diet is not very safe. Doctors dont know a lot about weight loss or nutrition. Besides that, your brain is 60% fat, why would you starve your brain of what it is made of. Check out this site: www.loseweightnow.com/tfward

Check out the Dr. Ornish books. His fat free diet philosophies include a lot of tips on how to add pizzazz to your meals in healthier ways, and lots of great recipes. Although I agree that completely fat-free is unrealistic... you need small amounts of healthy fat like olive oil and omega-3's.
But yikes... if that is the way you have been eating for a long time, maybe you need more help and support/education than just one trip to the doctor? Maybe you need to join a support group with regular live meetings, or maybe you can set up regular appointments with a registered dietician/nutrionist for a while to learn more about healthy eating? If you get your doctor to "prescribe" this, your insurance might even help with the cost.

Keep in mind the reason why your doctor did this is for your HEALTH. You need to understand why it is you have such a need to have this relationship with your food. Food simply has to sustain you, you don't necessarily have to have this immensely awesome meal every time. It can be bland, so long as it helps you function and survive each day.

The best thing to do is follow the Weight Watcher's diet. Trust me, food isn't as bland on its own as you might think it is.
Did he put you on this diet for weight-loss purposes? If so, then the Weight Watchers diet is perfect.

it's simple...you have two choices here, although i think it is impossible to cut out all fat, and you do need a little in your diet for proper nutrishion, you could cut out 80% and live a long and healthy life (please also remember there is good fat and bad fat i.e. mcdonald's BAD avacado GOOD) or you can keep eating what you are eating and die at age 25 maybe 30......your choice......good luck!

You can't really. Most flavors are added or accentuated by fats and sugars. If your don't follow your doctor's orders, however, you may wish you had.
