Someone asked you this before...why do you keep saying "our" troops? Are you an American?

mhami06 what are your qualifications to determine what type of unit is required to perform the mission? Why don't you believe those who are there about what is being accomplished?

Because Bush doesn't have a clue. We entered Iraq under false assumptions and distortions and have managed to destroy the school system there, force many of the professionals to flee their country, killed over 2,500 of our brave men and women, we're close to causing a civil war, and we've also managed to have insurgents filter in from neighboring countries.

I understand that Bush wants us to stay until the Iraqi government(is there a government?), asks us to leave. Gosh, that's a heckuva plan.

This is street fighting and we need our Special Forces to be the ones doing the fighting - they're trained for this. Unfortunately our Special Forces (Seals, Green Berets, etc.), are undermanned. So guess we just keep sending more young people from the Guard to get themselves blown to bits or return minus a few limbs.

It's not that he wants them to stay,it's that their presence is so vital. Iraq has three groups of people who hate not only outsiders, but each otherYou have Sunnis who want Saddam back in power so it can be as before. You have Kurds in Iraq who want to unite with Kurds in Turkey to make their own nation.
Do you think the Turkish government will give up an inch of their land to create a new nation? Get real.
Our troops will stay until a new army can be trained along with a new police force. And a new constitution can be ratified. All these things take time.

To finish the job. Our troops want to stay for the same reason.

One of my cousins was home over Thanksgiving and I asked him about going back. He said it was his job and he didn't like leaving it half finished. He is proud of what he is doing over there. He says he will keep going back until it is done.

That's why "Bush want our troops to stay long in Iraq" a you put it.

Because bush made the mistake of going in there in the first place. If he pulls out now, the outcome is unpredictable and we may be subject to much more terrorism. In short bush was an idiot for going into Iraq in the first place, and he may have put all Americans in danger.

Security, safety, and show of support. Bush is basically having the soldiers there to act as a backup police force to keep the peace as this is a fragile time for the Iraqis at the moment, so as the previous regimes that terrorized that country (and recently tried with us) cannot move back into power.
He is also showing that he and the USA support the Iraqis attempt at democracy and hopes that it works.
Remember that our freedom wasn't free. It had to be fought over.
Now it's the Iraqis turn.

we can't leave a whole country in ruins and let the insurgents win the fight and overthrow a new democratic Iraqi government,

keeping the troops in Iraq is the only option we have, regardless of if you were for the war in the begining or not, the only option now is finishing what we started

Same reason we stayed a long time (and are still there) in Japan and Germany and Korea. Sort of like a cop car driving thru a bad neighborhood. Slows down and sometimes stops crime. We're almost there.

A man stays until the job is done. We have a problem in this country when people do not understand what makes a man.

To finish what we went there to do. It shouldn't be just Bush who wants to get the job done.
