Camera becomes a paper weight if ccd stops working.

You could have a) dead batteries, b) got wet, c) bad ccd to start with, d) wiring problem, e) batteries backward caused overload, f) cheap camera, g) act of God, h) dropped camera causing malfunction....

The ccd is the "retina" of the camera. If it stops working, the camera is "blind", so is useless.

How do you the ccd is broken? You cannot easily tell. If the camera cannot take pictures, it could be many different problems.

I suggest that you have a camera repair person look at it.
