For starters, the rules need to be changed so quotas (which differ by which country you're from) end and everyone can be process and accepted according to merit. Also lower the application fees which runs in the hundreds, if not thousands of dollars.

Wouldn't it make better sense than the current system?

To Boob: Quotas ARE NOT the answer.

To Tommy Mills: The expense involved would be considerably less than it is right now with 12 million illegals around.

To Desert Queen: If you really believe that, then you are a very clueless individual who has probably never left your county, let alone the country.

To Julie: Shoot to kill? Not everyone who wants to immigrate here is a threat to our security. But if the restrictions were lifted, at least we'd be able to tell a lot better between "friend" and "foe".

BTW, I noticed by your avatar that you're Hispanic. I would think that you'd be more compassionate toward your "compadres".

The impact of illegal immigration that we want to stop is the flooding of poor people to take subsidized education and health care so our services no longer are adequate for our own people. Just letting everyone in will make that problem worse, which is why there were limits, to begin with.

What we need to do is enforce those limits. If that slows illegal immigration, we can see if we need to adjust legal immigration. Right now we have too many poor we support already.

Importing poverty is a bad idea.

And to the Kilkenny guy, above, I agree that one problem with mass illegal immigration from a single country is that it is unfair to other countries. Ireland is one, Eastern European countries and Africans are others. Latin Americans are not the only people in the world who want a better life.

End quotas! Currently non-English speaking Hispanics are given 8 to 1 consideration over educated, English speaking Europeans. Something is terribly wrong with that!

Nope completely WRONG. We just need to enforce the laws that already exist and put armed US troops on the border with orders to shoot to kill anyone violating US land illegally. In addition, since the illegals pose a threat to national security, the Department of Homeland security should be involved with the rounding up of, interrogation, and deportation of ALL illegals.

food for thought. for every illegal found in this country. our government holds one acre of land hostage from the country which they came .in three months if the illegal doe's not return home the usa owns that acre and in the case as with old mexico the usa moves it's borders south about six million acres.and this capitalist country has just expanded it's real estate

Then there would be no point in quota's. All it would do is make it so all illegals can come in easier legally.

I am not for open borders.

The only answer is to not give them jobs when they get here. But as long as the market asks for them, they will come.
