For example, what did your parents teach you that has great value for you?
Or what nice things do you remember from your childhood?

In what way do these things still influence your life?

Great question.
1) I love the fact that I grew up in the country and that I was the minority race there, it gave me an appreciation for what many Aboriginal and other ethnic groups have to go through on a daily basis.

2) My Dad and Mom taught me to be self sufficient, to rely on myself to reach my goals, but to know how to ask for help when I need it.

3) One of my best memories is the freedom I had to explore as a child. There was a mountain literally across the road from us and with a steady 3 hour hike I could reach the top. I loved going there on my own, or sometimes with my brother. It was the one place we could go and drop all the junk between us, we were honest and open there, and the view of the nearby reserve, lake and farm land was amazing.

All of these things still influence me. I love nature, I am independent and now I work with high risk kids and teens of all backgrounds.

1. I liked that my parents took me to a lot of different restaurants. Because of that I can go into any restaurant now and know how to behave, order, what silverware to use, etc.

2. My Dad gave me a great appreciation for music. I may not like everything, but I can usually listen to it and see how someone might like it.

3. My Dad also gave me his ability to strike up a conversation with just about anyone anywhere. That helps me feel more confortable around new people and new places.

i remember my older brother and i made this enormous space ship on the indoor patio we had. my dad brought home tons and tons of boxes and we made a giant space ship....it was awesome like 20 feet long and tall enough for us to kind of stand up....there were different ways you could go and we used markers to draw buttons and controls everywhere. there was one part that we left open and just put boxes on it so we could see the ceiling of the house still....we had a blast in there. i think we slept in there for days too.....good times with my bro.

just a good memory.....

They taught me to be helpful to others, to save money and to be honest. Of the three I'd say being honest is the most important because it has kept me out of trouble.
