McDonald's does not have home delivery because they started as a drive-in restaurant. They have not evolved into the home delivery system yet, but there is always hope they will.

They don't deliver because it is not cost efficent. When you order from Pizza whatever you normally are ordering for a family or atleast a few people so the average bill is over ten dollars, lets just say, for that bill you can deliver it a mile away and it is not that big of a deal. I think that most orders at McDonalds are just for one maybe two people so their average bill is probably four to eight dollars which would make it to expensive to deliver those orders.

I'm not sure there is a right answer for that. The other thing I've wondered, though, is why they don't accept fax or telephone orders. When my office orders lunch, there's a bunch of us, and we rarely do McDonald's or any of the fast food places simply because we can't phone the order in and just go pick it up.

My guess? They make enough money without bothering to follow either your idea or mine.

Some do... Mostly the ones in downtown Manhattan.. I know this because my sister worked there a couple of summers ago and did many delievers.. But outside of NY... I would have to say... The originality... If you have it consistently you'll get tired of it... Be honest, if you had to walk 3 blocks to a Mcdonalds compared to ordering it over a phone.. Which would you do more frequently?

Although I'm not sure if they have delivery options everywhere, the reason I think is that McDonald's likes to make money, and getting you to come to the restaraunt it is more likely that you will buy more, and of course a lot of kids want to go and play on the stuff they have and of course you are going to buy something for the kids too.

If McDonald's had home delivery, Americans would be fatter than they already are. First of all the food it self has so many calories. If Americans are going to eat there food they need to get up off there fat lazy butt and go and get it. Well that's just my opinion.

It would be too expensive for them to do that, they would have to up the prices with the cost of gas, hiring delivery people, insurance (if they provided the cars). I think it would be a great idea but I don't think that they are gonna go out of business anytime soon if they don't do delivery.

Simple cost Its bad enough they charge $3 for a gut wrenching buger but add delivery and would cost $5 for that 99 cent heart attack

I am sure it must have come up in meetings.
My guess is the profit margin.
Ask McD on their website / @ contact us or @ feedback.
With McD the idea is "to go out to dinner" while going for a drive, in a casual setting, and reasonable priced meals.

simple they serve thousands of burgers a day because of the price they would be making trips with dollar burgers to thousands of houses a fleet wouldnt make all the deliveries so nah or try this the cheapest mcd's sandwitches would have to be 5 bucks so that would slow down demand

You would trust the deliverer? It's mcdonalds, they already pee in your orange juice as a joke. Your food is with them unsupervised for like 20 minutes. and you'd have to double the price you would normally pay just to cover the tip.
