Usually, you can contact the local newspaper and provide a date of the death - or near about. They can send you via email that portion of the obit. I recently requested the same from someone in my family that passed in Flint, Mi. All I did was contact the Journal and responded to the questions they asked and received my information directly from the obit writer at the paper. Good luck.

You might want to check with your local paper. They may have a website where you can go and search for that information. For instance here in Houston, TX I can go to the newpapaer website, click on deaths and search fort obits written in the past 30 days or so, or I can do a search based on last name, and date of death.
