I've heard a lot about them, and would seriously consider getting one, but I've also heard they are expensive, and incredibly hard to find. Are there only a few of them out there? Where, and for how much are they sold?

You DO NOT need a special license to own a firearm like that . You just have to to be 18 or older w/ a clean record. The Russian ak's are hard to come by or if you do come by one. It will cost you $500 bucks or more. Depending on if it's a parade dressed ( chrome bayonet, hi polished stock, etc. ) then you can't touch that for under $1,000. Those are the most wanted and people that have them know what there worth and not willing to sell them.

Saiga makes Kalashnikov clones in the .223 , 7.62x39 ,.308,etc.. Which are much cheaper.
