it is not covered by insurance companies because circumcision is needless surgery.

the mere existence of the foreskin is not a medical problem.

foreskins protect us from medical problems such as urinary tract infections and std's.

therefore, insurance companies should actually charge a higher premium for men whose foreskins have been cut off.

getting a doctor to cut off your son's foreskin would have cost you in the vicinity of $US200 if you had gotten it done when he was an infant.

the doctor or hospital or mohel may then possibly have sold this for around $US35 to a biomedical company who would stand to make hundreds of thousands from that single foreskin from the sale of skin repair products.

starting to feel short changed?

not to mention this being needless, ******** painful 'surgery'?

for adults i know that getting a doctor to cut off the foreskin costs at least a thousand dollars... something like that. this is because they somehow see fit to anaesthetise older patients, but do it to infants (read that word again, infant) without pain killers.

horrendous.

If you're in Australia between $200 & $900 but don't know where you r living so I think it greatly depends on that.

I can't believe the morons who've replied to you WITHOUT actually answering your question but have tried to push THEIR somewhat misguided opinions down your throat.

Unlike these other morons who need to get a life I was circumcised at 28 rather reluctantly due to medical reasons. If I knew earlier in my life what I know now I would've got it done when I was so much younger. No pubes in the foreskin, no smell which I used to get not long after bathing. My Ex who experienced BOTH me uncut & cut preferred it cut saying it felt bigger coz of the less skin probably. It looked bigger & preferred to give me head being cut. I remember getting a hard time sometimes from classmates being uncut coz 95% were cut when I grew up but now it's like 90% uncut. I also remember the foreskin made it hard to aim straight & my mother going off at me for not aiming straight which is pretty hard to do with skin in front of ones penis.

Sometimes I used to get my foreskin in my zipper so I now have non of those worries. My only regret was not getting a tigher cut as it is a loose cut.

It's your decision. I decided to let my son intact coz most boys in Australia are uncut. If he gets many more infections then like you i'd have no hesitation in getting him done. If as a Teen or when he gets older & wants it done we'll support him.

now if I was living in the U.S or Israel or Canada my son would have definitely been circumcised when born coz i remember it being hurtful & embarrassing being one out & different which is why I haven't got my son cut living in Australia where like only 10% of boys are circed now days.

My circ as an adult by the way didn't really hurt by the way but being younger it could be the case. Mine took about 5 weeks to completely heal. From MY experience of being uncircumcized & being circumcized I recommend the latter. Good luck with your decision & God bless.

Honestly, don't charge the 6 year old. They have no money. It shouldn't cost the 6 year old anything.

A ten spot down at Louis the butcher. And don't look all mad either, he's really good with a knife!

Seriously though, I'd venture to say around $1,000 minimum in an outpatient facility, if they even do it there.

Why put someone through extreme pain for no reason. Doctors only say they need it because they get more money if they do it. It's stupid.

Nothing - if you let it be.

Hundreds of millions of Europeans live happily uncircumcised - like me.
