The duma[s]s left his keys in the truck and had his back turned to it. He called the police and the sheriff. It is not a high priority to them. It's Sedgwick County, Wichita, Kansas. Where should we look for the truck? Where do theives go with stolen trucks when they're through with them?

It's an old beat up truck with no full-coverage.

When police look for a stolen vehicle it is like a finding a needle in a hay stack.
They may be able to pick it out in the crowd just by chance that it drove by them, otherwise they may realize that is stolen when they pull it over for a traffic violation or when they just see it laying on the side of the road.
Like you ask, where do you start looking. It is not that it is not a high priority, just where do you start. If it is suspicious on the streets somewhere, the patrol officer will stop the car/ people. It will show up sooner or later.

It depends. It could have been someone just looking for a joy ride. I am not too familiar with Kansas. If it was a nice truck and had fancy chrome wheels and sounds(stereo and speakers) they will probably go somewhere take out radio and speakers and remove the wheels and leave the vehicle in a desolate area. However, if they were professionals, and they probably weren't, they will bring it to what is called a chop shop where they will disassemble the entire vehicle and sell the parts in the black market. Hopefully, your friend had full coverage insurance. Good Luck.

I'm assuming the police actually took a report on the stolen vehicle, and if that's so, then the vehicle information's entered into the nationwide computer system. If an officer runs that truck's license plate or VIN for any reason, it will come up stolen & the truck will be impounded. That's your best chance of getting the truck back. It wouldn't hurt to drive around looking for the truck, I suppose, but if you find it please call the police and don't confront anyone yourself.

It is probably out of the county and prob out of state, sorry but hes not getting it back whole

Even funnier since the keys were in it, the ones that took it will only be charged with joyriding

From Kansas-the parts were shipped to Mexico by DHL ground. From Mexico the parts were shipped to me. I put the starter in my pickup a few hours ago. I got the part for $20.
