There is the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps that is building the fence (see picture of fence in progress) http://www.minutemanhq.com/hq/ With Chris Simcox as head,

Then there is Jim Gilchrist's Munuteman Project, which is the one lobbying in D.C and holding the marches you 've seen. He is the one who had 1000 people at the border last year. http://www.minutemanproject.com/default.asp?contentID=83

I say good work to both, but hadn't focussed on their being different groups. Did you know this?

The term "minutemen" traditionally refers to a group of during the revolutinary war. They were called minutemen because they were 'ready in a minute' to go to battle.

Using the same term to define a group of men buliding a fence to keep people out of a country known for it's liberty and freedom for all is an overly patriotic gesture meant to subvert the term.

The original minute men fought our liberty - mostly so we wouldn't have to pay ridiculoust taxes to a distant king. I find it ludicris that our solution to illegal immigration is to wall out some of our more patriotic people. Immigrant who come to this country do it to better thier lives. They see America as a place of hope, where they have a chance to live free of oppression. I think many Americans would do the same, if found in a similar situation.

Thanks for the information-no I thought they were the same.
I agree they both are doing well-I believe both agree something must be done.

Look on their web site--I found a chapter right near me-if not-I am sure you may start one.
