road rage, it is real. Science shows that this phenomenon is dangerous and real.
or it could be that the driver just got their license or maybe just arrived in the country and got their license

Unfortunately, this isn't really a 'new' thing- though it has become more and more noticable.
I've lost track of how many people seem not to understand what a crosswalk is, and good lord! The ones that don't use their turn signals and brag about it!
Here is something else: When I lived in an apartment in the middle of a town, I one day noticed a young lady trying to cross the road from the bank to a shopping center. She was in the crosswalk, like a good citizen. And the total idiots in the vehicles that day just kept driving around her, not stopping to let her get out of the road one way or the other. This went on for a good 5 minutes or so. I wished I could yank them out of their cars and make them stand where they made her stand, just to see if *they* liked being at risk for being run over by people like them.

The reason that people drive like crazy stems from the feelings of isolation. By being aggressive against someone who we have no emotional connection to allows us to get mad. If we knew personally who that other person was in the other car and it was a loved one, or even a boss, and we knew that they in turn knew who we were, then we'd hold in our frustrations.
Unfortunately, without expensive pycho-analysis, or becoming a Zen Buddist, there is no solution to the problem.
If you don't want to contribute to the problem, then stay out of the fast lane.

It is a me thing, but it is also a hurry thing. In this day of hurry, hurry, hurry, everyone wants things NOW. They want computers to run faster. If they"re waiting for the walk sign to light up, they bang repeatedly on the button. They run into you and are in to much of a rush apologize and just go on their merry way.
Yes I have noticed it too, but I guess we have to live with it, because there is nothing we can do about it.
Hope

we are an increasingly apathetic society that is disconnected from real human interaction. the Internet, cellphones and ipods have all contributed to this. we truly are stuck on ourselves with very little regard for others. it will only get worse as we continually shut ourselves up in our houses and hide behind computer terminals and talk to total strangers instead of having one on one face to face conversation with our fellow human beings. it is real easy to not have feelings for what we perceive as inanimate objects!!

No, it's not you; people are becoming more self centred and selfish. Personally, I don't reward drivers like that by letting them through, giving in to their wants, and making sure they know how I feel about them. lol
