Don't get the plastic tags that are made in the machines - get a good brass one made at an engraver. The plastic ones break and you can't read them. Put your last name on the tag, your phone numbers, as many as you can. The brass one that I have has 3 lines on both sides. Re the microchip company, you can give them at least six numbers to keep on hand. The collar should be a bit snug but not tight. Don't use it for anything but keeping her jewelry, use a harness on her for the leash.

Due to the number of dogs lost or even stolen....put the following information on your pup's tag:
-REWARD
-phone number (cell is best)
-microchip ID number (write: "M-ID:" then the code)
-any medical conditions that pup has
If you only put this information on the tag, you don't have to worry about people stealing your pup (which is more likely to happen if you put his name on it). I know it sounds paranoid or even anal...but there are some creepy people out there!!
It also depends on the temperment of your yorkie...if he is friendly, all the more reason to withhold some information...if he isn't the nicest dog on the block (like my dogs are), put his name on it. I put my dog's names on their tags, but it's not like a stranger can get close enough to them to read the tag anyway. Microchipping your pup was a very good idea!! If your pup gets lost and is taken to animal control or a veterinarian, one of the first things they do is scan for a chip! You're on the right track!! :)

You should put his name and your cell phone number (or some other number where you can be reached whenever). If there is enough room, I'd also put your last name. Like: Fido Smith
The microchip is great as long as whoever finds him takes him to a vet or shelter, but a tag is immediate. They can call you right away.

Put your address and phone number if you can, try abbreviating. and put the tag that you got with the microchip on the collar also, so that if lost, whoever finds him knows to get him scanned.

My dog has microchip, tatoo and ID on the collar... Minimum for the collar would be your phone number - if you keep your cell with you all the time, etc, you might want it to be that one.

His first name, your last name, your phone number. That way if he gets lost and someone finds him, they'll be able to talk to him using his name, which will make him feel better. They'll also be able to reach you.
You might want to consider using your cell number instead of your home number. If he is lost, you might be out looking for him and not able to answer your home phone.

And yes - you were wise to get him chipped!

Just put your phone number. That way, if he does get lost, people will phone you right away if they've found him. Also, put his name rather than yours on the collar.

I had each and all of the before listed stuff, plus a sprint piece of tape that I positioned on the back, affirming "Bury me face down, so the international can KMA!" EDIT FOR JOSEPH: Nope, former USAF SSgt & Captain
