yes of course you should see a doctor, but don't automatically assume that it is depression. Depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain which can be treated with exercise, diet, therapy, and some medications. Only a doctor can diagnose it. You may have something else going on medically, or maybe there have been changes in your life that you don't know how to handle. Whatever it is, there is help available. You need to contact a health care professional, but most importantly, you need to decide whether or not you want to continue to be miserable. No one can help you if you are not willing to change and go to any lengths. Some people can't live any other way. Abraham Lincoln said it best "Most people are as happy as they make up their minds to be."

Why don’t you take a load off your back by decreasing the amount of courses you are taking. Make time for yourself to do things that are enjoyable-but not educational. Your brain is spending way too much time working that it never gets a break. Get at least seven hours of sleep and look into seeing a mental health specialist soon. If you think you may have depression, there are plenty of screening quizzes online that you can take-but remember that nothing online can replace the effectively of a doctor or therapist. Good luck!

Yes, you should visit a doctor. MD and a Psychologist. It could be caused by a chemical imbalance of some sort, or a problem in your life. If it has been few months or longer and it hasn't changed, it requires professional attention.
By the way, don't be too quick to accept medications. All medications have side effects, and many psych medications have dependency issues. Psychologist will try to help you without medications.

I am someone who has had depression all my life. THe only thing that helps is getting to the Doctor and getting on a treatment program. Yes, the medications do work. Be patient though, it sometimes takes a while to get the type and doseage right...but it's really worth it to have your life back.
I'm surprised you're taking all those classes. Stop them if you start feeling overwhelmed. I have to focus on only one thing (like a project or class) at a time. Too much on my plate makes me more depressed and withdraw.

personally, I've always found that medicating yourself becuase of your emotions was silly, but some people need it. I don't find anything wrong with depression personally, I go in and out of it all the time(my mom is bipolar so that might have something to do with it). But of course, if it bothers you, then by all means, go to a doctor and talk to him about it. He can help you determine whats going on and what you want to do about it.

I would definately go to your primary doctor first and tell him about what you are feeling. He will most likely recommend a specialist to go talk to. You and your therapist can talk about what and if meds would be good for you or not. Also if you are in college, which it sounds like you are, go visit your school's health center. They will have therapists there and sometimes its a lot more comfortable talking to someone about your depression who sees a lot of young people everyday about the same problems then your family doctor. You can also talk to them about different meds and if its a good idea for you to be taking them. I hope i helped.

yes, you should make an appointment to see your doctor. be honest with him/her. medications, like SSRIs, can e very helpful to you. call first thing tomorrow morning! in the mean time, try getting exercise, maybe consuming less caffeine, eat a balanced diet, call a friend. Hang in there. and maybe take fewer classes and have more of "a life" -- life is better that way!

Antidepressants could help you feel better but also look for a counselor you could talk to you, to find out why you feel sad. Keeping your mind busy & taking classes is an excellent thing to do.
