It seems to me, if a being is ignored long enough they go bother someone else.

By the way, I'm Jewish, so I'm not part of humanity debating the evil one and a man named jesus. But in my religion, if you speak of someone, you're praising them. This sustains them. Ignore the evil one and speak of God. This gives God power in your life. If I ignore certain people, I keep them out of my life. If I intereact with and speak of and spend time with certain OTHER people, I give them access to my life. It works the same with God, people.

Thats what you think, you are human and reason from that stand point - the devil is not human and reasons from a different point. The devil doesn't leave anyone alone because he wants all of us to perish with him.

All humanity is now involved in a great controversy between Christ and Satan regarding the character of God, His law, and His sovereignty over the universe. This conflict originated in heaven when a created being, endowed with freedom of choice, in self-exaltation became Satan, God's adversary, and led into rebellion a portion of the angels. He introduced the spirit of rebellion into this world when he led Adam and Eve into sin. This human sin resulted in the distortion of the image of God in humanity, the disordering of the created world, and its eventual devastation at the time of the worldwide flood. Observed by the whole creation, this world became the arena of the universal conflict, out of which the God of love will ultimately be vindicated. To assist His people in this controversy, Christ sends the Holy Spirit and the loyal angels to guide, protect, and sustain them in the way of salvation. (Rev. 12:4-9; Isa. 14:12-14; Eze. 28:12-18; Gen. 3; Rom. 1:19-32; 5:12-21; 8:19-22; Gen. 6-8; 2 Peter 3:6; 1 Cor. 4:9; Heb. 1:14.)

The devil (Satan, Lucifer) does exist and he should not be ignored. The major problem in America is that he IS ignored and is left fairly free to perform his evil influence.

The devil's primary power is influence. He and his minions (demon spirits) are here to tempt, taunt and harass us for the two purposes of keeping people from knowing about the True and Living God and to keep true believers from living the life of victory that is their inheritance.

There are a number of scriptures from the Holy Bible that speak about Satan's influence.

Jam 4:7 Therefore, submit to God. But resist the Devil, and he will flee from you.

1Pe 5:8 Be sober! Be on the alert! Your adversary the Devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour.

1Jo 3:8 The one who commits sin is of the Devil, for the Devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose: to destroy the Devil's works.

2Ti 2:26 Then they may come to their senses and escape the Devil's trap, having been captured by him to do his will.

As a child of God through trust in Jesus, we should not spend even a moment fearing the devil; he has no power over us BUT the weapon of deceit, but we must be vigilent in considering that he is still free to harass us and deceive us into committing wrongful acts. We are not immune from his influence, yet we do have the power to resist him.

Each man, woman and child on this planet has the ability to say "No" to Satan and turn to Jesus for salvation; a choice must be made by each one in turn to find freedom.

Check out two fictional books that present what I believe to be a very real portrait of Satan's influence in this world: Frank Peretti's "This Present Darkness" and "Piercing The Darkness". These two books and C.S. Lewis' "The Screwtape Letters" will give you some idea of how Satan seeks to destroy YOU.

Find freedom in Jesus!

Just 'cause you ignore someone doesn't mean they'll go away. Example: you can ignore me ALL you want but you can't ignore the paint i throw on your car, the window i break, the people i kill, etc etc. (I don't do any of those things, i'm just playing "devils advocate") Faith is good, but everyone's faith gets tested.
