It is a truly crazy idea.... So crazy it might work. A couple of years ago, a German company invented a small machine that takes different amounts of starch, carbohydrates, protein, fats, salt and a selection of spices to "create" a real food. The first thing it was used to make was an angel food cake.
Since I heard about this on the news, I've been trying to find more info but can find nothing.

Now that wouldn't be called emailing anyway---they don't call what the pizza dude does mail delivery, do they ?? That would be known as eFood Delivery and the closest thing right now is to use your email service to get in touch with one of the 488,000 businesses that take orders on line for every thiing from apples to zebra steaks --order up and wait----but don't think that someone isn't working on the idea of plug and play food for your console--I'm sure somewhere, as we speak --some geek has got sour cream dressing running down his desk legs--trying to figure out how to get that baked potato to his best bud in Saganaw

It is theoritically possible. One chef in britain showed how to: -
he coded the "recipe" in a picture
inks were flovoured specially to give aroma of spices, smells of choc etc.
then the file was printed on edible paper.
Thus e-food was served.
Alas if this was more practical I would mail daily to Somalia and poor african nations, in fact all the hungry would have to do is open an yahoo email account and i would send truckloads of food and free copies of "biryani" and steak and icecream

We can do it right now. It's called "mail order," and "online supermarket delivery services."
But seriously--I'm imagining that you're talking about something like a food synthesizer, like what they have on "Star Trek," and being able to e-mail people food THAT way. I guess that, in the future, just about anything would be possible. But it might not be commercially PRACTICAL.

Some time I seriously hope it will be possible,
Not only that you will be able to send all materials electronically from once place to other.
Before John Baird invented Television every one described him as IDIOT.

Indirectly, online or through email to places like pizza parlor, grocery delivery etc. That's fair enough for now.

You can do it now, if you have a CD-ROM or DVD drive. Simply take the food you wish to send (e.g. peanut butter) - and jam it into the drive bay. Then shake your computer vigorously until it beeps.
