I use 45 it's complete sunblock, it does block the UVA rays. U have to use it every half or one hour if on direct sun, if u are swimming it washes of after 15minutes (approximately) also remember that if it's really sunny day u can get tan in a shadow also, some people don't use sunscreen in a shadow. Also even 5 minutes on a sun can get u tan. So keep using 50 it's a good protection against cancer. I am a natural blond with blue eyes and a very fair skin who once burnt her eyelids even and this works for me.

I use sunscreens with SPF 45 and I still tan but I don't burn. That is the main function of sunscreens. Anytime we're in the sun and wearing anything short of total sunblock i.e. long sleeves, etc., our skin can be damaged by the sun. The sunscreens are meant to keep the damage to a minimum. And if you spend a lot of time in the sun, like at a pool, even with sunscreen you will still tan.

There is a difference between a sunblock...which totally blocks the sun and a sunscreen, which just screens out the harmful rays. Any product that blocks UVA rays has to say so on the packaging.

The tan will not hurt you. You just need to block the sun rays to prevent skin cancer.
A 15 SPV is all you need.
A one time application during the day is not sufficient as sweat will cause the sunblock to come off no matter what the bottle says.

It blocks out harmful rays from the sun theoretically. However you can still tan or burn depending on the length of your exposure to the sun. Sunscreen has to be reapplied at certain intervals to keep working.

It is supposed to prevent you to get BURNT and to MULTIPLY your skin's natural resistance times SPF. That is why you get tanned anyway.
However you need to activate Vitamin D, so you should expose yourself to the sun at the non peak hours of sunlight for some minutes.

Sunscreens will not block the sun completely. If you use them as directed, they will keep you from getting burned. If you want to block the sun, get a "sunblock" and follow the directions.
