We really don't need anymore wars. America is bad enough as it is.

What makes you think Mexicans want to become part of America? Maybe they want better lifestyles, better opportunities and an orderly way of life, but to become Americans, I don't think so.
Besides, this would make the USA the most hated and feared country in the world because it cannot find another way to solve problems, except by making war on others. Fear has a way of making people do some really extreme things.
America and the Americans would be the great loser, no amount of money in the world would integrate Mexicans into the American Culture. They would always be second or third class citizens. The American People would not want it either because it would take jobs away from them. Bilingual education would be a must, along with all the othe indian languages and cultures Mexico is rich in.
By the way, after Mexico, you would have to declare war on Guatemala, Belize, Hoduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Nicaragua, etc. all the way to Argentina, people jump over from those countries as well, and throw in China, India, Phillipines, Cuba, Africa.
Nope. That does not seem to help much.

Are you kidding? Did you really say no concerns about our economy. America is already slowly becoming over populated with illegal border jumpers. If this were to happen do you know how many people would be fleeing here from Mexico? Millions. We have enough problems of our own. While this would eliminate problems with illegal immigration, it would create a whole set of new socialogical problems. In addition to our existing problems we would also be taking on theirs. The first two questions you need to ask yourself is where will these people stay and where will they find jobs? You have millions of new Americans seeking employment and shelter. Isn't unemployment already a problem in the United States. What effect will millions of new workers have on that? How will this effect the wage earnings of Americans? I will tell you how. It would create a job shortage. Do you know what happens in an economy where the amount of those seeking work are high and the amount of jobs available are low? It creates a work shortage and wages go down. This is similar to what happened during the great depression. A company that was used to paying lets say a wage of $15 per hour could now get away with paying minimum wage. Can you imagine working for $5 or 7 per hour? Gas alone is over $3 bucks a gallon. If the original American workers refuse to work at the reduced wage do you know who will? You guessed it our new neighbors from across the border. There will be millions of American workers either unemployed or underpaid. What will this do to the housing market? At $7 per hour who would be able to afford a home. I don't how the housing market is by you but where I am the cost of an average home is between $175-200,000. If this were to happen our economy would be torn upside down. One more things that needs mentioning. When people are out of work and can't feed themselves or their families crime tends to rise. In addition to this, I am sure Mexico has their share of fugitives who are running from the law. Think of what a great opportunity this would be for them.

So your answer is to just make all Mexicans American? Then who would we get to come here and work for cheap? Without the fear of being sent back to Mexico these workers would start demanding minimum wage. Our tax dollars would have to be split with millions more people who would demand social security and health care. Nah a war would certanly not do. Instead of a war why not just develop a virus that specifically targets the Mexican gene, we could call it "the bird flu" and just wipe them all out. Much more cost effective than a war and probably quicker. When it was over and only a few Mexicans were left we could just go down there and grow tomatoes and grapes or something.

It might come to that-but I think it will be more of a dispute. I think someone will get hurt eventually trying to cross where others will not let them. It will cause much ado. But the majority of people want laws obeyed and they will have to live with that. And more will get hurt over the whole thing-and probably some who are innocent. I blame all those who support Illegals when that happens-because if laws were obeyed to begin with-it wouldn't have to happen.
Many are being hurt now because of drain on the system. It has been posted how many times. But some refuse-more for personal reasons to face it.
When someone is shot than many will notice. And wonder how this could happen. It will happen because laws were not obeyed.
If someone doesn't like laws-they can vote and try to change it. But it seems the majority want closed borders. And that will happen-rather the supporters like it or not. It is a war of words now--but it could get worst. Thanks to those who don't support laws many will get hurt.
I don't think Mexico has the guts to declare War with us.
Hey Fernado the bull-not a dumb question. Maybe you just don't like it.

That's gotta be the stupidest thing I've seen today. Declare war on Mexico because of illegal immigrants? Your plan will not work because NATO and the UN would not allow it, not to mention that war is a last resort strategy when all other forms of diplomacy fail. It always amazes me how many idiots out there think that declaring war on other nations is actually good for us. It costs money, ends lives, harms the economy, and nobody really wins in the end. Wake up.

Because you'll have quite enough on your hands with the upcoming war against Iran. I'd love if America would declare war on Mexico - so that Mexican allies (Brazil, Spain, and through Spain most of the EU/UN) and America's enemies or competitors (Japan, China, Russia) could put war on America on all fronts. Not that America should be annihilated, of course.. But judging from this question and the comments on it, y'all need to be taken down a peg or two. So go ahead, change the world.

Because to declare war means to conquer and why in the world would we want to annex Mexico? They have a huge poverty problem down there so they would have to come into our social security which is strained as it is. Then we would have to worry about the Mexican southern boarder and all the illegals coming from there. They do not have the EPA standards we do so all their companies would have to be brought up to code, which would probably take federal money to do. If you conquer a country you are bound by international law to rebuild it, more tax dollars being spent.
War with Mexico would just create new problems to deal with and is basically not worth it.

1. Ethics: The United States simply has no reason to invade Mexico -- and you don't go marching across international boarders and start shooting people for the hell of it. Ethically, Mexico has a right to govern itself, as does every other country.
2. Casualties: Even if "America would win," it would be at a substantial cost of both American and Mexican lives. Yet another reason why you don't go marching across international boarders and start shooting people for the hell of it.
3. Public support: I don't know if you've noticed this, but there are a substantial number of Mexican Americans in the United States, many of whom would probably have a problem with their tax dollars being used to murder their aunts and uncles back home. By the way, in response to the claim that there would be "no issue of Race left to discuss," remember what happened to the Japanese Americans when the U.S. went to war with Japan in 1941?
4. It wouldn't stop "border jumpers": Assuming for the sake of argument that the United States is able to completely take over Mexico, it would not eliminate the boarder -- it would simply move it. El Salvador boarders Mexico to the south, and Mexico has a problem with immigration from El Salvador similar to the one the United States has with immigration from Mexico.
5. Concerns about our economy: The economic impact of taking over Mexico would be 100x greater than the economic impact of Mexican immigration. The United States would become responsible for all of Mexico's economic and social problems -- all of the poverty, all of the organized crime, all of the corruption, etc.
6. Cultural differences: The United States would have to become a bi-lingual country, similar to Canada. Road signs, contracts, ballots, etc. would have to be in both English and Spanish. Half of Congress would consist of people elected by Mexicans, to represent Mexican political views. The President of the United States would have to campaign in Mexico and cater to Mexican interests. It would completely change our national political landscape.
There are numerous other reasons why it would be a bad idea for the United States to invade Mexico; I've just named a few.

27 answers later, and most from Mainstream America (the cyber kids are having a 4th of July BBQ), I would be repeating the views already stated by the majority: a resounding Don't Think So.
As for placing importance on what to call Mexicans after your fantasy war, I think your slant sarcasm BACKFIRED?
You having fun yet, or is the reading lesson going to be too much for you? It could turn out to be a good lesson on politics or plain common sense.
