Friends with benefits is a real relationship. Perhaps it is not the relationship you're looking for, but it is, in fact, a type of relationship. If you are actually asking whether this type of relationshp ever leads to a monogomous, long-term romantic relationship, I would say yes. However, the operative word here is "ever." I think in most cases it will lead nowhere - and fast. If you are a girl, then the guy will have zero respect for you, in which case he will never date you. If you are a guy, then the "friend" you're with is kind of trampy and probably has a lot of other "friends," in which case you should not want to date her. Bottom line is that the whole "friends with benefits" thing is basically a way for horny people to have sex without commitment. If that's what you want, then do it. If not, then walk away NOW.

It can if the friendship is completely established FIRST WITHOUT the blend of any sexual encounters. Sex clouds the emotions. So if you are friends and it evolved into a relationship, that actually is the best FORMULA for a great relationship.

The person has had time to get to know and care about YOU.

But if you met on a Monday, and consider yourself to be friends...............and then sleep together on Thursday..........then with all odds it MOST LIKELY WONT work.

i sense that you want the answer to be yes...but i am afraid to say that i doubt it. there is a reason your "relationship" hasn't gone anywhere past the sex stage. a friend with benefits doesn't nag cuz you don't call, doesn't want to know where you've been, doesn't expect anything of you other than the occasional @$%*.
Things would not be the same, if it would cross over to bf & gf...

Unless the other person is willing to go exclusive, then No. The old saying, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?" applies here.
