My step-son came over to spend the rest of the summer with us but we didn;t see him since christmas due to the distance where he & us live. The problem is the clothes he had from last summer doesn't fit anymore so we pass it out to one of my little cousins, his mom send him with the only clothes he had on& the oldest shoes he has ,cuz that's the way she has being like this for the last 4 yrs., so we went & buy him new clothes. The thing is he can't take back home the new clothes cuz his mom doesn't allowed for him to take it, she says she will not allowed for him to wear it.... so we usually keep them in his closet but kids grow up so fast & for next year he might not be able to fit in them like it had happend before (he os 10) & some clothes he does love & would like to take home but we know she will not allowed for her to put it on, so what to do do I keep passing on the clothes or re-sale it... I feel bad for him cuz he is the one in the middle of thissituatuion,it is not fair4him.

it sounds as if she has no business being a parent if this is what she considers being a mom maybe you should consider talking to a lawyer and trying to get custody of him she should at least send clothes with him as part of the visitation order if nothing else tell her if she doesnt start being a bit more mature you will take her to court for custody the best place for a child is not always with the mother

like you said it is not fair for the child.you need to have a talk with his mother and let her know that she need to put whatever her feelings and hang up are aside, because her child's feelings and well being is much more important than her's.and the fact that she let the child spend time with you, means that she trust you enough,so if you buy some clothes for the child, she should know by now that you have the child's best interest at heart.clothes do not say forever and like you said kids grow up,so if the this child have you to love and care for him enough to buy him some good clothes that he needs as long as he likes them he should wear them untill he grow them out,or he donot want them anymore.you need to talk to this mother and let her know that her ways are not the best for her child on this matter,it is just clothes and it is ok for kids to have nice clothes.you need to let her understand, express the same feelings that you have, why you got the clothes for the child, that as a mother she should have those same feelings, and one word for those feelings is LOVE.

You may want to re gift them to him for his Birthday or Christmas. Other than that you'd basically have to gift them to somonelse in need.
