Because there are barbaric cultures in the Middle East who have no real understanding of Islam that is the perfect religion.
Please dont associate the treatment of women in the middle east with Islam as it has nothing to do with how they are treated, Islamic teachings are contrary to how they are treated, Islam teaches to treat women with respect.
The prophet said,'the best of you are those who are best with their wives'. Thats only a fraction of the hadith that the Prophet said for the respect of women.
Hope my answer helped, by the way I fully cover myself.

That is a pretty brood statement. I have been to a lot of places in the middle east that don't have that. I lived in Afghanistan where some women actually chose to wear the burka to avoid being oogled by obnoxious men. But in Afghanistan and some other countries, you are correct, that women are not treated that well. I think it is because weak, pathetic men want to feel that they are better then someone so they pick on women. It is really sad but remember that that is not the entire Middle East. Even in Afghanistan I met locals who wanted women to have the same rights as men. If this is a big interest to you visit www.rawa.org.

It's all in the Quran.

Supposedly the women "want" to wear that type of clothing in the 100 degree plus heat. It's a sign of respect, modesty, and humility.

I must stress that in many middle eastern countries women do NOT have the option of going out in public uncovered. As a matter of fact these countires actually have a special unit to enforce this. Women can get into trouble and be arrested if they are not completely covered.

What makes you think they are being forced? Hollywood? I didn't know that was an intellectual media library of information. Women in the Islamic Republic of Iran hold parliament positions that most western nations don't. Aren't women in the west more like sex objects and controlled by men with their desires? Getting drunk, beating your wife, raping your child, etc, etc, etc?

Because they are owned and operated by MEN and MEN alone.

This is an example of the PEACE and tolerance we can expect from those following the Demon Book of the moon god.

I guess it's just their culture and they have to follow it. They must get soooo overheated though. It doesn't seem very healthy to be so covered from head to toe in clothing in the heat...
