It is a code that is revealed to us of the man of sin, in Revelation 13. It amounts to a man the Bible says that is being led by the devil. That is what God revealed to John and he recorded it in the Book of Revelation chapter 13. See link for further details on it:

Many thinks and believed that the number 666 is the devil number or associated with the devil. However, that is not so, the number 666 is the number of man and not of the devil. read the book of revelation chapter 13: verses 16-18, and understand it word for word.

Let me explain this number of man (666), to know this it needs wisdom, and wisdom comes from rigid study, and a verse even tells us to count it. (take note) 666 is not the mark of the beast, there is a difference between the Mark of the Beast and the number of man. The scripture says beware of the wiles of the devil. so the devil is not a moron to mark everyone with 666, don't you think so?

When John wrote this prophecy in the aile of patmos, he was under the rulership of the roman empire, and the Great ruler on that day was the pope. so let see what the scripture has to say.

In Revelation 13:18 it says, "Count the number of the beast; for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. (666)."

On the Pope's official mitre is the title in Latin "VICARIUS FILII DEI," which means "Vicar of the Son of God." The claim that this is his official title has been stated publicly through the years.

The Scripture says count: Remember the Roman numerals you learned in school?

VICARIUS + FILII + DEI = 666

V=5,
I=1,
C=100,
A=0,
R=0,
I=1,
U=5,
S=0
---------
= 112

F=0,
I=1,
L=50,
I=1,
I=1
---------
= 53

D=500,
E=0,
I=1
------------
= 501

112+53+501 = 666

"U" and "V" have the same value. Look in your encyclopedia under "Alphabet." In Greek, Hebrew, and Latin, it comes out the same - "666"

I want to be quick to say that when a person shares this shocking revelation, he must be kind and tactful. We must let people know that God loves all. The truth must be told - but always in kindness.

The 1260 years of the Papacy's rule are called the "dark ages." I'm sure you've heard that expression before. The reason it was so dark is because the priests forbade anyone to read or even have a Bible! For hundreds of years only the priests were allowed to read Bibles. Satan had to get the Bibles away from the people in order to keep them in darkness and superstition. The people just didn't know any better. There was a time when if you were caught with a Bible, you were dragged out of your home, hung up on a pole, and burned alive in your front yard!

This is just a sypnosis of the facts, history reveals itself. So friend, we have already discover the number of man (666) which the apostle John saw in the aile of patmos, we haven't touch the Mark of the Beast. What it is, is still a mystery to many, but as for me, God has revealed it to me through diligent study of the word of God. ALL THE GLORY BE TO GOD our saviour. amen.

6 is a number associated with human. And because the devil is trying to make people believe that man is god, he is represented with 666 and I believe it's in Revelations (I really need to read that one again)

7 and 8 are numbers associated with God

It originates from the Book of Revelation from the Bible. The book was written by the Apostle John. John was one of the 12 disciples of Jesus. During the last few years of his life, he was imprisoned by the Romans. During his imprisonment, John writes that he was visited by God. God communicated to John through his dreams. In these dreams, God describes the Apocalypse, the end times. God describes several events which would herald the end of the world. One of these signs would be the Beast, someone or some entity of great evil who would seduce man. God said he would be recognized by the number "666" on his forehead. Many scholars believe that God was talking figuratively. The number "7" in the Bible is oftentimes associated with perfection. Thus, the number "666" is imperfect three times over.

I'm Pretty sure because in the last book of the Bible, Revelation, it uses a lot of symbols and odd things like that, and it uses the number 666 to represent the devil.

In the Book of Revelation, the number 666 (or 616, depending on the translation) is the mark that the false prophet (second beast) forces upon humanity. No one can buy or sell without the mark on their right hand or forehead.

"The second beast forces all people-important and unimportant, rich and poor, free and slaves-to be marked on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that no one may buy or sell unless he has the mark, which is the beast's name or the number of its name. This calls for wisdom: Let the person who has understanding figure out the number of the beast, because it is the number of a person. Its number is 666." (Revelation 13:16-18)

Because the beast and the false prophet are from (or of) satan, the number is then considered satanic, in a way. Revelation clearly states that it is the name of the beast, or the number of his name. In the past, using numerology, people have tried to figure out who the beast was, and Caesar Nero was considered the likely candidate in the first century A.D. Many scholars believe that Nero was a type (or foreshadowing) of the beast. In other words, the beast will act like Nero did toward Christians.

Nero, of course, is known for setting fire to Rome, and then blaming it on Christians. He also was known for taking Christians, coating them with tar, and then lighting them on fire to be torches in his gardens. He was quite the persecutor of Christians.

Anyway, I hope that helps!

John had a pipe dream in which he saw that. He put it in writing and that made it official and nowadays some people believe it.
