Fear and ignorance.
Physicians are too often tied to the pharmacological conglomerate that give doctors all kinds of stuff for prescribing their drug. People commonly go to a doctor just to get a pill. Any thing that can't be prescribed is considered non-therapeutic in their world.This comes from the training, or the lack thereof, in medical school concerning these effective treatments.
There is also fear. What if people become healthy without a prescription? What if health food stores became more effective in treating people than doctor offices (not to say that they are or are not already)?
I had a sinus infection for years. No doctoral help cured this. Only through other means was I able to relieve this problem.

Ignorance! Physicians in the US do not learn about alternative aspects of medicine...even the parts that work better than conventional medicine. Who would make the big profits from prescription ointments that may not be needed if you used inexpensive colloidal silver as an antiseptic....BTW-its also an antibacterial and works well for simple abrasions and cuts
