I have a GSD as well.....She is also 11yrs old.......
She smells approximately just 3-4 days after i bathe her......
I consulted the Vet Doc regarding this and he said that it is a normal thing for all dogs especially the bigger bone types....
Nothing to worry about......just make sure that her fur is always dry not wet because dogs tends to smell bad when their fur is wet.......
I don't actually do much about this.....i bathe my GSD twice a month and comb her fur regularly.....thats it......
Like the others say, try to get spray formulated just for pets body odour from the pet shop or Vet Clinic..........make sure it is safe to be used on your dog.........
Good Luck!!!

It depends on if you are talk about the fur, or possibly the dog is "passing gas"?
For the latter, definitely review the diet. There are some really good foods out there to tackle a variety of things. Check with your vet...
It might be good to have the dog re-examined in case the smell is a symptom of some sickness.

This could be a bigger problem than you think! You should take her to the vet to get blood work done. My best friends 10 year old golden retriever started to smell no matter what she did to clean him. They finally took him to the vet last year for blood work and found out that the dog smelled because he had cancer, had they taken him in to the vet sooner they might have been able to lengthen his life by up to three years.

My question would be what do you feed her? Poor quality food will cause a dog to have body odor. Does her food contain corn? wheat? byproducts? None of those are in a premium quality food. Some of the best brands out there are California Natural, Solid Gold, Innova and Merrick.

There are commercial deodorant shampoos specially formulated for dogs. If that doesn't work, take her to the vet she might have a health problem that is causing the smell.

It depends on what she smells like. If she has ear problems her ears will smell musty. If her teeth are a problem her breath will be bad. Have you located the problem area? She may just be on cheap dogfood and have a bad case of the farts. Check her diet.

My dog is half shepard and half rottweiler and always smells bad, too. The vet says it is a normal problem for shepards and it is most likely the diet.

Could be her diet?
I wouldn't suggest bathing her a lot as over bathing does dry their skin and also not so shiny coat.
