i'm seeing it more and more. I am 21. All my friends who are 21 act like my 21 yr old boyfriend. We have a child and he still likes the partying and irresponsibility crap. Not all the time, it goes in phases....when do guys GROW UP??

Hopefully never, but by age 30 he should start to settle down a little and start taking some things a little more serious.

Everything in life is a matter of give and take. Try simply asking him to be there for you when you need him to be and to share some time with you and your child as parents should. Truthfully at 21, very few are what one would call mature and you have to be very careful how you approach certain subjects as he may take it as you being to restrictive on his personal freedoms.
So rather then broach the subjects directly, just make sure his time is yours by being smarter then he is. Find things for him to do that need doing, have him agree to them, organise dinners for friends at your place, video nights, things that will keep him at home with you.
Don't let him rule the roost, you do, however still allow him enough freedoms to think he does. You have to play to his weaknesses and strengths and don't be afraid to find others to help you manipulate him.
Young males think only below the belt because that's where their brains seems to be and his mates wont be much better.
Oh and stroke his ego at times, they are suckers for that. By the time he is 25 he will either grow up or not..only time will tell.

21?! He (and you) are still very young. Neither one of you have had the chance to experience life yet. You have a child, which unfortunately you are not married, and the bulk of the responsibility is falling on you. He should be taking responsibility, but men and women take time to 'grow up'. A lot of this happens in your twenties. I think the majority of men start to settle down in their thirties. I would start the lecture about having a child outside of marriage, but that would be pointless. It takes two, and the damage is done. I wish the best of luck to you, you have had to grow up too fast having a child. Make sure you have court ordered child support, even if he is helping out now, you owe it to your child to make sure he continues to pay . If things do not work out with him, there are many other men out there!

Most of them die before they grow up. I encountered a 93 year old man taking out a 6 year loan for his "new toy" at the car dealership yesterday. How practical is that?
