Ive cooked baby backs for years and always removed the membrane on the backside. Not sure if spare rib racks have the same thing or not.

Yes it's definately there. I always remove it . Enjoy your ribs!

Yep! The membrane on spare ribs are harder to take off. I found a new use for my pliers.

Some people cook their ribs with the membrane on but I find that they are tougher.
