JC had no fixed profession, hang around places and called himself son of god. The Romans then nailed him to a cross. In later days similar cases involving women were called witches... and they got burned alive.

2day idiots call JC son of god and claimed he died to cleanse their sins. Nobody called those witches daughters of god and save them from their sins!

Go on....suckers... go and kiss the backside of that Indian 'guru' who wear solid gold rolexes and drive around in rolls royces... may be he is god!

Of course Jesus could have saved himself on the cross. The point is that he didnt. He chose to stay there. If he had saved himself then you never would have heard anything about him, and he wouldn't have completed God's purpose. The whole point of him being born was to die. If he didn't complete his purpose then he wouldn't have been the messiah, and there would be no Christianity. If he had defied God and saved himself then he wouldn't be the son of God, he would just be an ordinary man, possibly just a prophet like the muslims or jews claim. Your same question is asked by the bystanders to the crucifixion. Maybe you should read the book and see if you find the answers, its in the New Testament.

He could have saved Himself, very easily. Jesus had the same free will as you and I but chose to sacrifice Himself to teach us the truth about God. He did not choose to save Himself from dying on the cross because of His deep and abiding love for God and Humanity.

He died for us. God was going to rid himself of all humans and start over, but Jesus chose to become mortal via the virgin birth and be crucified on the cross as predicted by his dicsples. That is how we were saved. If it wasn't for Jesus, we might not have been here right now.

Jesus didn't want to "save" Himself. He willingly gave His life. He loves us all that much! He doesn't want any of us to perish. Would you be willing to do that? Could you honestly say that you could lay down on a wooden cross, let soldiers drive nails into your hands and feet,: all manner of torture because of the love you have for all mankind?
What an awesome sacrifice He made!

Jesus' entire mission, His life was to die for us on the cross. He could have called down legions of angels to rescue Him from His pain and suffering, but that was the furtherest thing from His mind. He loves us so much that He paid the greatest price anyone can pay: His own life. His power, His glory, was His death on the cross, not trying to escape any human pain or suffering He had endured. He was saving us, and preserving us that love Him for a life that is eternal, not of this world, but of the next. This is what His death was for.

I pray this helps to answer your question. If you need anything else, just ask.

God bless,

Danny

Funny you should ask - that's what the crowd gathered at the cross asked.

Jesus had answered this question hours earlier, to Peter.

"Put your sword back into its sheath, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Do you think that I cannot call upon my Father and he will not provide me at this moment with more than twelve legions of angels? But then how would the scriptures be fulfilled which say that it must come to pass in this way?"

The reason people can be saved is because Jesus stayed on that cross. Jesus was crucified for our sins so all people have a chance to be ask for forgiveness for their sins and be SAVED.

The point of his dieing on the Cross is that He took upon himself the punishment that we deserve. Then he rose from the dead after three days. Because of this we can have eternal life. We just have to accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior.

He was not killed.. christians think that. but he is not the one that was on the cross. the funny thing about christains belief that is said in one of the different versions of bibles they had that god has a son, what about a daughter? why not?? and they say that god is 3 but 3 in 1?? as if 1+1+1 = 1 !! this is their math. I feel sorry for everybody that belives in this.
You know why the altered the bible to say that he died for you.. you feel pasionate then and you will believe that he is the God and he is the son and he is the spirit and he might be something else that i dont know. Go and use your minds before using .... .
