does puerto rico currently participate in the section 8 low income housing program ?

Hi, yes PR does participate in the program...
If you are already on the Section 8 and have a Housing Choice Voucher, then all of the portablilty rules apply. You would contact your local office, tell them you are moving to PR and of course, you'd have to find housing in PR as well...
The section 8 office in PR does have a website and you can even search there for apts/houses. I did a little research of my own when considering moving there and even got email addresses to contact people in regards to what they had to offer..This is great if you arent fluent in spanish (which I am, so this wasnt a problem for me) But you can use a translation site to write the emails in english and then translate them as well as any responses you'd get!!
The site below does allow you to search apartments and houses...Hope this helps!!

yes, you need to be a resident of Puerto Rico for x years and there is a long waiting list...
