Have you ever smelled puppy breath, and then dog breath ...
Everyone has bad breath, that is why the dentist always says to brush your teeth, floss, and use mouth wash along with taking care of your teeth....
You should look at the site that I found that explains in detail all about bad breath.
It is never easy telling someone that they have bad breath, however wouldn't you rather know from someone you trust rather than find out from a stranger and have everyone avoid you.
Just be honest.
My sister had bad breath, but bad breath reminds me of gas or farts because everyone can handle smelling their own, but when it comes to others its another story.

I used to be super paranoid about my breath because I had a problem with my tonsils. I often asked my husband and he always said I smelled fine, but I didn't quite trust him, just because I worried he might not want to hurt my feelings.

I finally asked my dentist, and he told me three tricks. One is to lick the back of your hand and then smell your saliva. Sounds weird, but he said it works great. Another is to smell your dental floss when you are flossing your teeth. If your dental floss is really stinky, you probably have dental problems which lead to bad breath. (If you floss regularly, little food particles which stick to your floss will not have a bad smell.) The other thing he told me about is a little device you can buy (yes, I actually bought one!) that you breathe into. It measures the amount of some chemicals in your exhalation, and a little meter shows you if you are in the danger zone. I found mine online at a health store. I don't remember what it's called, because I had my tonsils removed and I don't worry about it anymore!!

My dentist also told me the best way to guard against bad breath is to take good care of your mouth. Brush at least twice daily, floss, and use a rinse if you like. It is also very important to clean the back of your tongue, either by brushing it gently, or using a tongue cleaning device called a scraper. Apparently bad breath germs really like to hang out at the back of your tongue.

Just recently, I also read in a health journal that they are finding that many people who take good care of their teeth but still have bad breath have it because of problems in their tonsils. I had a thing called crypts, which are basically deep pits in your tonsils that fill up with gunk. Some people are able to clean the gunk out by applying pressure to the tonsils (yes, it is disgusting, I agree), but mine were so deep that I could not clean them that way. After they were removed, they were sent for routine biopsy, and my surgeon told me the report said they were really icky inside. Apparently crypts in the tonsils are very common, but most people don't know they have them. If you are worried about it, ask your doctor if he can see them.

Good luck!

Put your hand up to your mouth if you smell something that stinks it is your breath. It is always good to carry breath mints or gum anyway. Brushing your teeth also helps that.

The best way I know is to lick your hand and smell it. If it smells you will have bad breath. Or breath into your cupped hands and smell.

cup your hands over your mouth and nose and breathe out, then breathe in again quickly. See if you can smell anything! Otherwise, ask an impartial, good friend. Who won't laugh.
