How long will my partner have to pay his money grabbing ex? His daughter's 19 and working and she still wants money even though the daughter is working now. She's involved the CSA as he stopped thinking it was finished because of her age.

The CSA are a complete nightmare as your partner probably already knows.

My understanding is if his daughter is now working then he is no longer liable.

Try telling that to the CSA though.

I am currently paying for my 2 daughters through the CSA. It is my understanding that your partner can stop paying maintenance from the September after his daughter turns 16. However if she continues her education he would have to keep up payments until she is 19.

As she is working now then he should be able to contact the CSA and get them to review the payments. If the ex is being greedy she may deny this fact and the CSA pretty much have to take her word for it.

It's pretty much down to your partner to prove that his daughter is working. He may have to obtain some sort of evidence to prove all this. Maybe photos of her at work (why they cannot trace the fact that she is receiving wages through her National Insurance number I don't know).

Anyway, I hope this all works out for you. Personally I wouldn't have a problem helping my daughters financially, but when it's down to the ex getting what she can out of you, I think it's taking the P*SS.

Good Luck

Not sure but I think you only have to pay up to the age of 18 unless in full time education. I would check this out with the CSA as maybe the ex has lied about what the daughter is doing.

I am sorry to have to tell you.... But the CSA will not get involved unless she is on Income support or working family tax credit... If she refused to put his name down she would not allowed to claim these benefits... blame the government. The CSA never helped me I have 2 kids one is 12 the other 8 I was with my partner for 7 years and since he left I haven't received a penny and as soon as I started work and they found out they stopped trying to find him (I was unemployed for 5 years!!! So blame the government even though your angry.

I would imagine that it stops when she turned 18. Then it's her own responsibility to look after herself. I can't imagine anyway in the world that the CSA would get involved with payments for anyone over the age of 18. Are you sure The CSA are involved, or is this woman just trying to aggrevate you?

Child Benefit can now be paid upto childs 20 birthday now if still in full time education. You'll need to check with CSA if they apply same rules...

He IS finished because of her age. He needs to get involved with authorities as well. They may be able to work out a compromise where he pays a small amount but not full. But I see it as, CHILD support means you help to support a CHILD. When she's no longer a child, you should no longer have to support her financially... especially if she is working.
