Just as any cult that uses hell to keep the sheep in line.
Yes, it is immoral and just plain wrong.

First, Hell is not made up. It's real.
The Bible speaks of it all over the place, and Jesus teaches it again and again in the gospels. When the rebellion of Satan against God occurred, he was cast out of heaven. He exists in a place completely cutoff from the love and truth and light of God. This place is so dark and so evil that it is nothing but the vilest of hate. Not because because of sympathy or longing or hurt or anything other human attachment we put to it. This kind of hate can't be fixed. It is pure, burning hate. There is no end. There is no getting punished for a little while and then going back to God. Hell is forever. This is the devil. And this is what he wants to do to us.
Children should be taught about Hell. It is a lesson of the Faith. A lot of people, I've seen, tend to disregard Hell as made-up, or superstitous. This is a fatal mistake. We may live in the twenty-first century, but Hell has been there since before time began.
Teach them, and teach them well.
God bless,
Danny

This question must've been posted by an athiest. I would say that "how do you know there isn't a hell?" I guess someone would say there's no proof, but what's the proof that the universe came to exist on its own--there isn't any, nor that something created it. It started somehow, the details of which are far beyond the reasoning of puny human brain. Religion requires a leap of faith to explain this--the existence of hell (and heaven for that matter) is just one element of such. You can say that hell doesn't exist but that's just your belief, the chances of which being correct are fifty-fifty. In the end it's about your beliefs which in turn become your childrens' beliefs. You can't argue that your answer is the only correct one, because it isn't. If you do then you're an extremist---islamic, christian, whatever. We got too many of those freak around already so come down off the stump, stop preaching, and keep it to yourself.

No matter what religion you are it is wrong to raise children with fear. They should be raised with love and a sense of adventure and respect for their fellow human beings and the other life on this planet. I believe there should be more spirituality and less religion. More acting out and living of spiritual values and less intolerance and religion in church on sunday for show and being judgmental and miserable to yourself and others during the week. They should be raised with self-confidence and intelligence. They should be raised to think for themselves and question any religion or system of thought that claims to have all the answers. But most of all they should be raised to respect and enjoy the differences that abound in the world between people and different ways of thinking. I think it is immoral and wrong to raise a child with fear, very.
People are so brainwashed by society, and it cuts off there potential and cripples them.

sure, for sure. it really is the reason i'm an atheist. My God (Baptist) became a god of wrath, whose red eyes beamed out lighting fixtures fixtures which may damage me if I sinned (a image above my mattress) in accordance to my moms and dads. I once picked up a pencil contained in the playground in school and kept it as a replace of handing it in. i concept i became going to be killed. contained eventually I took it to my instructor and defined about my God. She instructed me that as I had finished the right aspect, i'd be all proper and then she phoned the social amenities and stated my moms and dads. I actually were an atheist ever in view that. I moist the mattress properly into my 20s. cruel. Mo

Yes, but fortunately it isn't made up, and people don't usually do that... Children are told that it is very important to live a good life in God's eyes or there could be bad consequences. I was taught that way, as well as my little cousins and we are all well rounded people...

I believe that there is a heaven & a hell and they are very real.
My mother use to threaten me as a child that I was going to hell, but she used manipalation to get her way and that was wrong. Our children & gradchildren have been thaught to listen to sermons, read the Bible and make their own decisions. It has not been forced on them. God has given man kind the choice to believe or not to beieve. Take your chance in not believing and when you die find out. But for me and my house hold we have chosen to believe that here is and not make the wrong choice

Is it okay to blackmail em with Santa Claus?
Who knows. I let them know it's not true cause poor kids may think
they are bad when they get nothing, even though it has nothing to do with
their behaviour and rich kids get it all no matter how good or bad they are.
I prefer to have the tree that gives all year long.

Probably no more immoral than promising prizes from a fat man at the North Pole.

I don't know if it's immoral, but it is better to be truthful and come up with consequences that they can relate to in the here and now, instead of scarring them for life with tales of hell and damnation.
