God created hell for the devil and all who follow him.

God gave satan a place to rule away from Heaven and it is the earth. Within the Bible, God gave us the world to conquer and take heed over everything. (We must take care of what we have been given though). God is the ruler of the Heavens. Okay with that said, there cannot be two rulers in Heaven so God cast down satan to the earth so that he may destroy everything that is good - set up by God.

The hell that people will experience is the total separation from God. It has been described in the Bible as a Fiery Pit Of Burning Sulfur that is never extinguished. There will be pain and anger, hatred and screaming, boiled blood, and a thirst that will not be quenched.

Now those are all descriptions of hell. Here is something else, you can imagine what hell will be. Imagine this - your skin being peeled off your body and turned inside out and slapped back on with salt poured on you - you never heal and you will always feel extreme pain.

Overall, there is not a full and total description of Hell in the Bible. All I can tell you is that the worst things here on earth as we veiw now will be 10 times worse and never end. It will be a never ending nightmare that you and others will never wake up from.

Hell, like Heaven, is not a geographical place. It is a spiritual state or plane of existance.

As human beings on earth, our most intense source of pain is physical. For this reason, Hell is portrayed as a lake of fire. It's the only way we can really understand it.

I believe that in the spiritual plane of existence, pain will not be physical, because we will have no physical form. Pain will be mental and emotional torment without ceasing. Hell is a spiritual state of eternally knowing and being reminded of your guilt, while being incapable of lying to yourself about the nature of God's sovereignty.

Those who go to hell will suffer under the direct gaze and wrath of God, with no ability to escape behind excuses. They will suffer eternal shame, the likes of which no human will ever experience on earth. There will be no pity from anyone, because to pity you would be to oppose God. And God's justice is perfect.

Eternity is NOT a never-ending period of time, but rather the absence of time. So imagine if, over the course of a lifetime, you burned yourself 1,000 times. Now, remove the temporal buffer that separates those incidents by days and years, and suddenly, all that pain is compounded into one point.

There is no end to damnation because there is no beginning. There is simply no time. That is why hell is so much worse than anything we can imagine.

I like how everyone says that God created hell, but it's the fault of humans if they end up there. If he knows all, then he knew, long before he created hell, that most people would go there (since the majority of humanity has never believed in him). If he really were loving, kind, and compassionate, he never would have even conceived of a place of eternal torture. Therefore, in imagining and creating hell, God shows that his true nature is one of sadism, anger, and violence.

Moreover, God is unfair in providing a place of INFINITE punishment for FINITE sins. If your child misbehaves, do you punish him every single day for the rest of his life just for that one incident of disobedience? Of course not, because that would be cruel and unfair--yet it is exactly what God does! What crime could any human possibly commit that would deserve eternal burning?

Oh, and finally--if humans are not going to be physical beings, but spirits, then WHAT is going to burn?? A soul can't feel pain, it has no physical body with a brain or nerve endings, so throwing it into a cauldron of sulfur and fire will do it no harm! Man, you Christians have some really messed-up theology.

Hell is an invention by "Christians" and other religions who want to frighten those who question them into submission. Notice that I said 'them', not "God'. The truth of God and Christ have been distorted by people with an agenda of their own - domination, even Paul, beloved and venerated St. Paul ! I've read both sides and considered True Christianity and even given it a study and a chance all my life, like WhyNotAskDon has suggested, with an open mind and an open heart and this is what I have come to believe. If they take me closer to a belief in hell and orthodox Christianity at some future time in my life, so be it, but at any point, I can only believe what I believe. Have others here read both sides of everything with an open mind or have only read what will support the beliefs that they already have and want to prove? Check out the link below if you want to read some other points of view with a fair and open mind, ones that may not all support the views that you want to advance as truth, then come back and say that you have come to your convictions with complete honesty and reasonableness.

God Created Hell for the sole purpose of putting all the non beleivers, and evil dooers, and satan there for eternity.
Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Psalms 55:15 Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among
them
2 Peter 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Hell isn't created yet, it will be at the judgement. Whenever anyone dies they rest in grave until Jesus returns that is why there is a resurrection at the end - Daniel 12:2 etc. Hell is what the Bible writers referred to as the punnishment of the wicked and Satan in the end when judgement is finally poured out. God has to eliminate sin from the universe and it breaks His heart when sinners do not let go of sin, its like holding on to a hand grenade and you know it will soon be destroyed but you still hang on to it, then you will be destroyed with it. God will destroy Satan and sin, so we should let go of both and hold on to who really loves us and created us - God.

There is no fiery burning hell; that's a manmade idea, not Almighty God's.

The religious clergymen of Christendom have created an image of what they understand to be “hell” or “inferno” in the minds of their church people. It is a terrible image. The long-taught idea of “hell” or “inferno” depends upon the doctrine of a human soul being something separate and distinct from the human body that cannot die; spiritual and invisible, something that we cannot feel with our sense of touch. Common sense tells us if that were so, the pain of fire could not be felt, as fire is an earthly element requiring the physical body to sense. Also, the Bible is very clear in stating that the soul is subject to death, saying: “The soul that is sinning—it itself will die.” (Ezekiel 18:4, 20)

Pagan religions are noted for teaching red-hot hells. The ancient Egyptians, Babylonians, Phoenicians, Persians, Grecians and Hindus taught flaming hells. The Buddhists teach a hell wherein people cook and sizzle in blazing kettles. Is the Bible hell as hot as the pagans paint theirs? Here is the answer.

Hell corresponds to the Hebrew Sheol and the Greek Hades. It also says that hell comes from the English word helan, meaning “to conceal.” So the early meaning of the word “hell” carried no thought of any kind of heat. It merely meant “concealed.” We have found, too, that the original Hebrew word, usually translated “hell” in English Bibles, is Sheol. Now what does Sheol mean? It simply means “a hollow place.” So the original Hebrew word perfectly corresponds with the original or early meaning of the English word “hell.”

Now that the clergy have put fire into the word “hell,” the vital question is, Did the inspired Hebrew Bible writers say that conscious life and red-hot activity exist in Sheol or hell? No, quite the opposite! Instead of blazing fire it is described as a “land of darkness.” (Job 10:21) Instead of a place of soul-chilling shrieks it is described as a place of “silence.” (Ps. 115:17) The Catholic Douay Bible, at Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10, says: “The living know that they shall die, but the dead know nothing more. Neither have they a reward any more: for the memory of them is forgotten. Whatsoever thy hand is able to do, do it earnestly: for neither work, nor reason, nor wisdom, nor knowledge, shall be in hell [Sheol, AS], whither thou art hastening.” So, since the “dead know nothing more,” or as the King James Version says, “the dead know not any thing,” it would be impossible for them to know conscious torment. And since there is no work in hell, how can there be activity, red-hot or otherwise?

A place has to exist for those who don't want to be with God...unfortunately it is called hell...it could be called many things...it could be called the place of Adam...read on:

The Door to living in God's Presence, in fellowship
with Him, was CLOSED when the first Adam was kicked
out...(which ruined it for everyone) before this he
was perfect and knew God deeply. A second perfect Adam
REOPENED the Door so that we could be restored to the
original Relationship. So man chooses which Adam he
wants to follow. Not choosing just leaves you in the
first one...outside the closed door. But all are
welcomed to come through the open one if they want.
The only thing is, the Age of Grace is ready to come
to a close...which means the Door will be closing as
well. So, people, don't wait too long. Jesus is the
only DOOR to God. If you don't enter, it's your own
choice...God doesn't choose it for you. Christ is the
door to the spiritual "Ark"...when the floods of
judgment come again....WHERE WILL YOU BE?

I know not all can understand this, but at least you
won't be able to say, "But Lord...I DIDN'T KNOW!
Nobody ever told me!"

God created Hell for the devil and his angels. unfortunately also for every human being that didn't take His son Jesus as lord and savior and chosen to do their own way. The devil is the master of lies and he has been successful at telling men and women that hell doesn't exist, only for them to refuse God commandments and sin their heart content. He is going to hell but doesn't want to go alone. He hates God and everything God created...that's us !

When Satan fell, God created hell to stop the rebellion of angels from heaven. Matthew 25: 41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: When Adam sinned men also was placed in hell for not doing what told them to do. Romans 5: 12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: God has also made away to miss hell. The Lord Jesus Christ came to earth and died for our sins. Believe and trust in that and you can spent eternity in heave.
