Take care of yourself. 2nd hand smoke can kill, too. Tell your parents why quitting is important to you occasionally, but there's nothing else to do.
You may want to give them a corny presentation on the effects of smoking.
If the cost is their main concern, it sounds like they don't truly understand the big picture. Sounds like they could use some education.
Sounds like your parents are stressed right now and know that smoking is a very difficult habit to quit. Don't ever touch a cigarette!
After you've done all you can, don't worry about what you can't change.
It is not your place to change adults.

Stopping smoking is harder than quiting drugs so it's going to be really hard to do with the added stress of financial problems of not working. It's up to them to find a way and a desire to want to quit before it is even possible to have a chance at success.

If they find it hard to quit, and they are trying to quit, build them a small wooden box with a latched door with a timer electric circuit on battery that will open a door and let them have acess to their cigs after a length of time, and put their cigs in there. As they become acustom to go without smoking that length of time, set for 15 minutes longer each other few days. They will eventualy be going longer and longer between cigs and the nicotine level in their body will get lower and lower and eventualy, quiting should be easy because of the small amount of nicotine in the body. It has been my idea of a divice to help quiters to stop smoking.

I'm afraid YOU can't stop them from smoking, I've tried to get my Mum to stop smoking for over 20 years, but she doesn't really want to give up. Good luck with that!

It's a hard habit to break, especially when you are stressed out. You are not going to be able to convince them to stop, especially if you have all ready tried. Just try to stay away from it. Second hand smoke can harm you. I'm sad for you. : (

Tell them to roll their own cigs. They can buy "fresh" tobacco from any tocacco shop, and roll their own(with hemp papers). The carcinogens are significantly less, and the smell of the smoke actually isnt too bad.
My point is that they will have a better chance of quitting smoking if they SHUN ALL FEDERALLY STAMPED CIGARRETTE PACKS! Those are the poison that people are adddicted to. Tell your parents to switch immediately as they will be less addicted to the natural tobacco and have a better chance of quitting! Good Luck!

That is a very difficult task for you . It is not easy for a smoker to just stop smoking just on the drop of a dime. Maybe if they got jobs it may ease the pressure on them and that could cause them to stop. Sometimes you have to trick them for example, pretend you are getting sick from the smoke. Ask your doctor to tell them to stop. Ask your pastor if you have one to talk to them. You try to talk to them nicely and tell them how much you love them and do not want to lose them to cancer. Help them find hobbies.
